Cliff gives the crew as much freedom as possible to conduct their workdays as they see fit. Often times we have raucous meetings in the morning at the office when paperwork is being dropped off and supplies are being picked up. The crew likes working for us because we treat them like we would want to be treated.
Any masonry that can be penetrated by water can be affected by freezing temperatures. Rocks are broken down by moss, lichen, and frost wedging. This happens to masonry as well. As a matter of fact, the reason that you are able to eat a salad is that rocks were broken down into soil because of frost wedging (and other factors) breaking down rocks.
Contrary to popular belief, Gas stoves and gas fireplace inserts need to be serviced on a regular basis. Gas fireplace service is usually addressed in the maintenance section of the owner's manual. These units are mechanical devices that are exposed to heat, and therefore require periodic maintenance and inspection to ensure proper functionality.
We rebuild chimneys using the original brick whenever possible. We can even get hard-to-find brick most of the time at an extra cost (they are usually shipped in from Missouri.) We do drive out and give estimates, but we have found that receiving photos prior to coming out can speed up the bidding process.
The 21-point condition report is filled out and submitted with each cleaning and/or inspection we perform. Chimney height is critical to ensure proper draw of the fire smoke up and out of the chimney. There is a specific formula that is used as a baseline to determine how high to build a chimney, and in certain conditions the chimney needs to be built higher than the baseline determined by the height calculation formula.

Doug was friendly, respectful, thorough and candid about our chimney inspection and cleaning! We bought our house a couple of months ago and had no idea what to expect with the condition of the original (65+ year old) fireplace, but he did a thorough inspection and was so nice about explaining what was an immediate need and what could wait. My 100-year-old brick chimney had loose bricks and deteriorating mortar. Doug, Howard, and Cliff worked hard and did a fine restoration job for a fair price. They maintained a clean work site and were pleasant to have around. I am confident the chimney will look good and be stable for many years to come.

Cliff does an excellent job of cleaning my wood stove and stovepipe, and is very careful and thorough with the inspection so that I can use it with confidence. Cliff called and told us that he could come earlier than originally promised. Already at that point we were fairly impressed. He in fact showed up early and inspected+cleaned our two fireplaces. He was courteous, professional, and fast. Only have good things to say about the whole experience! Will definitely use Willamette Chimney again next year!

I had the best experience with Cliff! He was prompt and on time, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Not only was he able to look at my problem, when he realized it wasn't going to be solved by cleaning my chimney, he quickly pivoted and put me in touch with someone to solve the problem.
