I stopped by Malder Company to get an idea of their craftmanship and their mission for a large scale hotel lobby project, and was impressed by owner Malcom's story. Turns out Malder Company has been in business for 34 years, and is still going strong. Not only do they produce hand-made custom fixtures, they also sell beautiful chandeliers and modern lights ready to sell out the door. Malcolm was very patient consulting with me on my project, and was happy to work with me on sketching out the ideas we're currently working on. I highly recommend supporting this Soma business!

After looking through the window several times with awe and admiration, we finally came by during business hours to look at the beautiful selection of both vintage and custom built replicas of lights from many different decades. Their real business is lighting design, which they do for famous restaurants and esteemed establishments in the city. Thankfully, they also have a retail store for their lights. Our dining room has been finished with this light and we couldn't be happier. As mentioned in other reviews, Malcolm is a special man; we thank him for his graciousnes and professionalism

Malcolm is simply the best person I've worked with for custom fixtures for the past twenty five years. He may tell you if one of your ideas is idiotic and impossible but he'll figure something out. I once brought him an old trombone, partially in jest, and he made it into an adjustable height floor lamp. That placed the period at the end of my musical career but opened all sorts of doors to future imagination. This is one terrific, honorable man who does great work for a fair price. A unique store. If you are fed up with all the usual light fixtures, and you're serious about doing something creative, go visit Malcolm and Noel. Want a lamp made from an old coffee urn? Would you like a 6 foot round dining fixture made of iron and 2" manilla rope? Looking for a vintage, one-of-a kind light for your entry? This is the place. You will go home with a quality fixture, be charmed by the ambiance and feel good about supporting a local business as well.

My wife and I have been giving our house a face lift since we bought it in Dec. 06. We had our house painted and it looks killer, and we needed a new light for the front porch. This is a difficult thing. A light can just be a light but it can also be a statement about just how cool your house is and that directly effects the people that live in the house...cool light, cool house...obviously cool people!

After looking online and at about 10 different light stores I found The Malder company. They have a great selection of unique and interesting lights for inside and out. We found this cool copper
