John started in the lawn maintenance business in 1990, as a high school student. He opened his own company in 1993, after returning home from Marine Corps training, and ran it until 1995, when he turned his focus to college.
He graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1999 and began a career as a project manager for a commercial construction firm in Austin. During that time, he managed multi-million dollar projects for clients including the University of Texas and H-E-B. He also managed many public jobs. After almost 15 years in general contracting, he realized that he missed working for himself.
He recognized the need for quality lawn maintenance in the growing area and decided to restart his old lawn business from so long ago, this time in the Texas Hill Country, where he has lived since attending school at SWT.
