In 1998, we were chosen to erect the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse gift from Tajikistan. This treasure was confined to wooden crates at the Boulder sewage treatment facility for 8 years. In December of 1998 the Teahouse finally starts its intricate assembly. More pictures and our personal experiences can be previewed here.
JDC Construction, Inc. is one of the original "Green Builders". In addition to our Hybrid Home Building System* designs, we are currently launching a new division called Zero Carbon Homes which will combine passive solar design, solar cell roofing, and if so desired, wind power.

Using glass and 3 story mass walls, the heating bills for these homes are almost half those of their neighbors. We pioneered "glass and and mass" superinsulated houses. The finished wall of this basement ends up having an insulating coefficiency of R-30, compared to R-11 for a standard 24 framed finished basement wall.
Hybrid Home's goal is to incorporate passive solar design, solar thermal, and solar cell roofing to achieve a near zero/minimal utility bill. A typical Hybrid Home could also charge a plug-in Hybrid or electric car. The homeowner would not only have a near zero utility bill but could drive up to 200 miles without using gasoline-all from a self sufficient Hybrid Home.
JDC Construction can install basements in any home just as easilly as popping the rooftop for an extra floor. In this series of photos, Jeff added his own basement. We have included before & after versions of what used to simply be a hole dug into solid rock! Below is a shot right after the concrete forms were pulled, the large 66 beams to the right still holding up the house.
Living in the mountains, we are often required to undertake challenging renovation and remodeling work. In this photo, you can see the original hand-shaped logs from back when the cabin was originally built. Remodeling homes is what you might call a "staple" for our business. Depending on your personal choices of modifications, that determines where we start first.
