Originally founded in 1946 after Chester Jost returned from the Second World War, Jost Flooring Company began as a small business that specialized in sanding and refinishing hardwood floors to local homes and businesses in the Bakersfield area. In 1990, Chester 's sons Duane and Dave bought the company, and shortly thereafter joined the Carpet One network.
