Fair & Square Remodeling
A hidden water leak can be costly and cause an untold amount of damage to the structure of your property - often home remodelling comes as a result of a long lasting hidden leak. Invasive water leak detection services cause extensive damage, although there are many non-invasive methods avaliable some home insurance companies still hold preference with costly and damaging invasive methods of leak detection.

This blog has been started to offer a whole heap of advice as we carry our a complete home remodel, with thanks to our home insurance after a series of water leaks. The most damaging leak was on an incoming water main which has actually eroded the foundations of our home in three points, meaning the house was totally gutted, underpinned and is in the process of being remodelled.

We have learned so much in this process that we want to share some home improvement advice here on this blog.

Undoubtedly, it was the worst decision of my life to sign a contract to work with F&S to renovate/combine two Minneapolis condos. My recommendation is to complete due diligence, hire a lawyer (Courtney at MNCLS = the best) to review/manage contracts, and absolutely run if you see Mike Otto (Michael P Otto, Michael Patrick Otto) having anything to do with your project. This team was great with the upfront effort (responded very timely, persuaded me to sign a DRAFT contract (stating we could refine via change orders), and demoing the first unit. They then disappeared and would come maybe one day

This was the worst experience ever. We hired Michael P Otto at Fair and Square Remodeling to complete an addition to our home. We did significant checks- references, Better Business Bureau, ratings- and these things came back good! So we hired him. It took a year for them to get the project going because they couldn't stay on top of the permit process. By the time we got started there was a new lead PM. He then repriced the project at 1/3 higher than what was originally estimated. We negotiated this down again. All along the way, there were issues, the first started when they didn't remove the

Update: We just received a letter from the MN DOL and they are revoking Fair and Square's license.
We were initially impressed with Mike's responsiveness, detailed bid, and promise of a quick project turn around which are the main reasons we signed with his company. We had a pretty simple project scope, a mudroom and full bath remodel. We had the plans already scoped and planned by an interior designer. He estimated 3m to get the job complete, we are now running on 9 MONTHS and it is still not complete. Once the project started, communication with Mike was non-existent. During the duration of

Absolutely avoid. They started my sisters kitchen in April 2018. It is now November and it isn’t close to being done. He just emailed to say he isn’t going to finish, even though they have paid over $90k. He’s basically just not fulfilling contract and they will have to sue to recover their money. Plus, after 8 months they don’t have a functional kitchen.

I hired fair & square to remodel our master bedroom suite which included maple floors, fireplace surround, tile bathroom floors and shower, and a vessel sink. The subcontractors they used for our job were seasoned professional who knew their craft. I’d mentally prepared myself for a chaotic mess as this remodel was completed but was pleasantly surprised at how clean the area was kept and how everyone working on it was very respectful of the fact that we were living in the home through the construction.
As part of the estimate process fair and square outlined the allowances for each portion of

Used these guys to remodel our bathroom. Really wanted to upgrade to something more modern and the work they did fit the bill. Came up with some cool ideas that I wouldn’t have thought of. Overall they were professional, did what they said they would do and the quality of the work was what I expected.

We remodeled our kitchen through Fair and Square Remodeling because of the kitchen remodel packages they offer. It made the whole process straightforward, easy and less stressful than I thought it would be. The package gave me peace of mind knowing we’d stay on budget and the end result was a beautiful and well-designed kitchen that I absolutely love. Beth, our project manager was great keeping us informed of timelines and what to expect along the way. The design they put together for us fit the space and the way we use it so well. This team has a lot of experience and I felt like my kitchen

I utimately chose Fair & Square for my kitchen remodel because of thier experience and it was a good choice. It is a decent sized kitchen but they listened to the budget I wanted to stay within and came up with some very unique ideas that stayed within the cost I had in mind. The design process was truly enjoyable. Jesse really kept me in the loop through every step of the build. I really felt like they had my back on this project and had my best interest in mind.

Upon purchasing my home I decided to completely renovate the interior prior to moving in. I worked with Fair & Square Remodeling to update the kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom and office to meet my family’s needs. A renovation of this kind takes time but they kept the work on track and it was completed within a week of the timeframe they initially gave me. I felt they were fair and easy to work with. Beth was very involved ensuring that things came together the way we discussed during the design phase. I would recommend them to anyone needing to do a sizable renovation.

Do not trust this company. They will scam you and the contractors that will be working on your house. If you are considering these guys for 203K work, you need to keep looking. Not only did this company waste time in beginning of the project the disorganization they create will stress you out by not completing the work on time then filing numerous extensions.
I still can't believe we let them install a boiler that is 85% efficient. Do not let them do this to you! You will regret ever letting Mike Otto into your home.
Also like many people money is tight for us. Mike allowed me to complete work
