In 2018 we experienced first-hand the challenges of moving. A simple two mile move left us feeling like there was an opportunity to improve local moving. Conversations with friends and family validated this idea. Nearly everyone we talked to had a moving horror story. From missing items, to hidden fees, to holding items ransom for money, the feedback unanimously pointed to an industry needing improvement.
At the core of everything we do is a commitment to customer service, hiring good people and an operating ethos that is driven by integrity. We work diligently to ensure that your job, whether a local move, a packing job, or an in-state move, is successfully completed. We offer local moving services in the metropolitan Charlotte area.
Renting a truck and cajoling close friends into helping you move is typically the alternative. But the actual cost of renting a truck is usually a multiple of the advertised rate once fuel, mileage, taxes, insurance and equipment fees are included. As for your friends, moving help is likely at the bottom of the list of expected duties.

For the slowest service in town where they charge by the hour $140 with a minimum 3 hour- consider sir Walter moving. They send two guys that struggle to move a queen Casper mattress - and comment that these are heavy and hard to move - because they had a busy weekend - excuses given for each item moved because they take a break between them to chat about video games, what they are doing on the weekends and that they have 3 hours after this move so they don't have any thing to do?? Sir Walter Moving is absolutely great! We used a container service for our move and SIr Walter for pack/unpack services. Our move was very stressful as our builder continually failed to make closing dates forcing many reschedules with both Sir Walter and the container service. Hugh Jackson, one of the owners, was always ready to help no matter how short the notice. He also provided advice on moving materials, blankets, ratchet ties and where to get them. Procuring materials is not always simple in Covid times.

We used Sir Walter Moving twice. Once to unload our house which they did a great job. They were fast and price was a little on the high end compared to other companies but still reasonable. They were careful with our belongings and nothing was damaged. The second time we used them to load our belongings into our cargo trailer. They didn't wrap any of the furniture like they had promised on the phone, they loaded light, breakable boxes on the bottom and heavy boxes on the top. A lot of our boxes ended up broken and damaged, some of our furniture was damaged as well. Their prices had gone up

Would recommend Sir Walter Moving to anybody moving in the Charlotte area! Very professional, prompt, and quick! We ran into an issue with our couch not fitting through the door of our new apartment, and the guys (Sante & Jamie) were more than accommodating and delivered it to a location down the road for storage. There was a third mover- it was his first day and you wouldn't have known. All three were excellent and got the job done! We will be using them again for future moving needs!

Very pleased with our movers' quality of work and work ethic yesterday 3/25
We booked an early/mid afternoon start window for our move from one mid rise apartment building to another in South End CLT. They arrived earlier than we expected and were done quickly too
They had done a move prior to ours, and the weather was uncooperative. Still, these two young men were communicative, diligent and efficient--even when our sofa wouldn't fit in the freight elevator of the first building and they had to hump it down 7 flights of stairs!

I highly recommend Sir Walter for anyone needing a moving company. They provided the smoothest moving services I have ever experienced. Everyone on staff, before and during the move, was professional and courteous. Not only did the staff provide reliable scheduling and cost projections, but my movers were punctual, efficient, and attentive. (I will add that they were also unfazed by several unexpected conditions, including a bad storm and police barricades blocking the entrance to my building). They clearly prioritize the customer experience and satisfaction.

A friend of mine recommended Sir Walter Moving and I’m so happy that we hired them! They were worth every penny! They were very professional, hard working, detail oriented and timely. They moved us out of our apartment and into our new house. They wrapped our fragile items and larger items like our couch. I will definitely use them again for my future moves. I have moved multiple times most of them being long distance, this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. My roommate and I were moving less than two miles away and the move took more than 8 hours. First the movers were late over 45 minutes. Then during the move we asked them to wrap the furniture multiple times, which was not done because over 10 items were damaged. The two man crew also did not bring all the equipment they needed to move in a timely manner. The damaged items consisted of 3 glass tops were broken, TV console was scratched and chipped (which was less than 2 months old

Hands down the best service I have everyyyyyy received! If I could give 100 stars I would. I am based in Arizona and was closing an office in North Carolina and couldn't be there to handle everything so this was all by phone and email. Hugh was so attentive and reliable. Even with a 3 hour time difference. Unlike most moving companies I called he went to the office to see exactly what was needing to be moved before even giving a quote. We were very impressed with how well they handled our move. Their were multiple challenges that Hugh's team were able to handle in stride. We've moved plenty of times and this was the best we've worked with. They helped us move into our rental while our new home is being built and we will be using them again as soon as the house is complete.
