TLDR: Commander Moving is the best moving company I've ever used. They moved a 3-bedroom with formal dining room and living room third floor flat from San Francisco to Berkeley in four and a half hours--including drive time across the Bay Bridge, a break, and lunch--without breaking or scratching any of our belongings.

I have waited over two years to write this review, because after my landlord negligently set off the fire sprinklers in my apartment, I had suspected that he just hired some randos off the street to move my things, and didn't actually hire Commander Moving like he told me. But the contract is in my case file.
Ok. If someone asked me to pack up someone else's belongings and put them in storage while they were wet, I would say no. And I'm not even trying to run a business upon which rests my reputation for handling people's things with care, or at least a tiny bit of common

Not a reliable and corporative company when they loose your stuff.
They lost a number of our household items....and they do not respond to our calls, and our repeated texts.
Some of the items lost/not delivered are:
- Vintage brass tray
- kitchen cookware
- Three vintage gold Dupont lighters with total value of close to $4,800.
- A number of china items off of a vintage china dinner set...irreplaceable.
- Many kitchen utensils
They simply have not taken any responsibility for these losses that price wise would be $$$.
As far as packing....very unorganized, not professional, and careless.

We can't find many of our cookware, a few dinnertabl items, a few items from a vintage china dinner set, a vintage brass tray, three valuable decorative gold Dupont lighters, silver trophy vase. I've used Commander Moving twice now, and can't speak highly enough about them. Most recently, their excellent crew (led by Amos, but including Lee, Peter, Manny, Primo, and Rigo) orchestrated a complicated move that ultimately required a window removal to get the biggest pieces out of the house. Hats off also to office staff (Raquel) and owner (Karel) who were very hands-on in light of that complication. Plus, they're cost-effective. Use them -- you won't regret it.

I moved from Brentwood to San Jose last Monday and Commander Moving made it an incredibly smooth move. From communication at the beginning prior to booking, getting a free quote, and showing professionalism throughout the entire process, I highly recommend Commander Moving. They were on time, efficient, safe, and incredibly courteous. Amos, Peter, Emelio, and Effrin made this very stressful day a cool and calm process. Thank you for your help. Commander Moving recently helped my elderly mother in law move from one apartment in Oakland to another. Their crew was great - fast, efficient, and friendly, and they even completed the job in less time (and for less money) than the original quote. The owner took the time to come over and assess the move before providing an estimate, and the crew was careful and respectful of all of the items being moved. I would definitely hire them again!

Wow, super pleased with these guys.
On short notice they picked up a cryotherapy unit 100 miles away and delicately brought it to me. Amazingly how effort they were on a Friday afternoon. They navigated narrow doors/halls without a hitch. Efrain, Giovanni and Albert were terrific and I'll be using them again!!

Unfortunately, the honeymoon is over. Too many broken and damaged items, mostly irreplaceable. One broken item was found tossed in bushes!
Packers took food/beverages w/o asking when packing kitchen, lied and confrontational when asked about them. We would have said yes if you had asked!
Even if insurance covers items, it DOES NOT cover your time and energy trying to get heirloom and priceless vintage pieces repaired or replaced.
We used this company a few times before with good results, NEVER again.

Dallas, Albert and Efron did a wonderful job moving us from our top floor condo to our new house in SF. It was not an easy job (a lot of stairs and a tricky/heavy couch were involved) but they remained in good spirits throughout. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for hardworking and honest movers.

Just had our third move with them today, and we’ve had great crews each time. Today we were lucky enough to have Anthony, Antonio, and Dennis. They were great! Not a scratch on the walls, and took all our many, many stairs in stride. Lots of laughs and smiles even at the end of a long day.
I can’t emphasize enough how skilled they are at their jobs. We were constantly marveling at how much speedier they were at maneuvering large loads than we would be, or how much quicker they were at wrapping furniture than we were.

Super easy to work with from the quote to job done. I've recommended them to another friend who also had a great experience. Great service is just what this business is about. We traded a bunk bed for a futon between our house and a friend's house, and everything went smoothly taking the furniture apart and putting it back together. The two guys were fast! Way faster than the minimum time of move that is charged, so I wish I had more work for them to do :-p It's not the cheapest quote I got, but it was the most solid in all aspects (scheduling, understanding logistics of trading

I've moved several times over the last few years - both by myself and using companies to do the lifting - and this was by far my best experience.
Starting from the estimate, Julian was efficient and very nice during his tour and provided a transparent estimate.
Then, with the packing, Sammy and Emilio did a tremendous job packing quickly and asking clarifying questions when needed. They packed well within the estimated time.

My wife and I are moving from Oakland to Honolulu and needed to have a shipping container filled with all of our stuff.
Sammy, Antonio, and Martin did a great job playing Tetris with our furniture and boxes and managed to get our entire apartment into the 20 foot container with some room to spare - and they did it _fast_.
I am super satisfied with the results! My mother in law will also be using commander Moving in the coming weeks and she is even more assured that it will go well.

We haven't moved in 10 years, but it was time to stop renting a 700 sq foot apartment and get a little more space -- especially now that we're both working from home all the time. And so, we set sail to the East Bay.

I moved about 60 miles north from where I was living and commander moving was very professional the whole way through. I confirmed three movers to show up on a Monday morning, and four showed up instead which bumped the price up per hour. I was initially a bit put off, but then I realized that the time they saved means that I wasn't paying that much more. These guys are strong, fit, quick, and well mannered! We moved our entire two bedroom apartment up to our new house before lunch! I will definitely keep these guys on my radar for our next move!

Awesome team of movers. Commander Moving was easy to work with, accommodating, and reliable. We worked with Barry to coordination the move and he made it very easy.
Rory, Victor and Dominik helped us move out of our apartment in SF and in to our new home in Oakland. These guys were fast, friendly, and were very transparent about the day-of moving process. They taped everything up, added padding where needed and everything arrived intact.
Great price, would definitely use them again and recommend them to my friends and family.

My first move in 20 years, so naturally I turn to Yelp. There are several well recommended movers, so I started with Commander. They were quick to respond, set up a visit to give me an estimate, and within a week I had an estimate that came close to what I imagined it would be. However, just before confirming, the COVID-19 Shelter-in-Place hit us. Like many, I went off the grid for 3 months. When I began to stir from my slumbers, Commander was one of the first contacts I made. They didn't miss a beat. My move was scheduled, my estimate affirmed, and we were set.

This company's movers were careless and damaged several of my most valuable pieces of furniture (cb2 bed frame and book shelf, west elm console, vintage chairs) with gauges and severe scratches. All of the damage is super visible.
They did not wrap, prep, or secure furniture properly for a move from Oakland to LA, and one of the movers was really struggling and banging furniture around.
The owner, Karel, cashed my check for thousands of dollars and has not been responsive or attempted to make this right.
