I used Helms flooring about 20 yrs ago and was satisfied with their work so I decided to use them again to my dismay. They made a mess of my floors twice before they finally got it halfway decent. The initial visit had sanded scars on the hardwood around part of my room. After bringing it to their attention they had to re-sand and try again. This time they got in a hurry and botched that up. They obviously didn't look at their work; I called home office while the crew was leaving my driveway. By then I was ready to fire them and have a competent company finish my floors. Extended hardwoods under old cabinets (which had been removed). Refinished 900 sq ft of hardwoods throughout home, plus stairs, with an upgraded matte, water-based finish.
The new finish is BEAUTIFUL. The floors look better than when they were new! The old finish was a traditional, semi-gloss, golden oil-based finish. The new one is matte, more transparent/colorless water-based finish. Had a couple spots on the final coat, they came back no questions asked and corrected. Very professional and always on time. Thank you!

We bought our house in 2015 and it was built in 1971, the hardwoods need to be refinished and in the foyer and dining room the old tile needed to be removed and hardwoods placed there.
We got our quote and liked our meeting with them, the tore out the old flooring in the foyer and dining room, laid new wood floor there and then sanded everything and stained it all. You CANNOT tell which floor is 44 years old and the new floor. They did an AMAZING job!!! Here's some photos.

Excellent company. I never had any experience before with hardwood flooring so we didn't know what to expect. They were always on time, from the estimate to completion. The estimate, which was the most competitive, was exactly the final bill with no surprises. Several different crews came for each stage, yet every person was equally curteous, professional and knowledgeable. Floors turned out beautifully. I wouldn't use anyone else.
