Used them to move from Madison and Chicago to DC. Had a sub par experience. In loading at Madison, items that needed to be protected got packed. The exact plan for loading was not communicated. They could have elaborated the degree to which the house needed to be packed when taking the estimate. They were 3 hours late to the moving appointment in Chicago. They forgot to load a 5 foot plant in the loading dock in Chicago. They couldn't open the door of their truck in DC and thus waited for 90 minutes to find a bolt cutter to open the door. They said they would arrive between 11am and 1pm - at 12:15pm, I called the office and they said "they have been trying to reach me to get the move going" - my phone had already been packed and boxed. Why would you need to contact us first, I hired them, told them where go..it was already set. This is the 3rd time I hired them, we never had any issues before, but these particular guys were unorganized, slow and complained about how much they hurt the entire day. This is my... sixth, I think ?! move with Terry, between my place, my mom's place, and the office I manage. Every single time, Terry and Ramona are responsive, easy to work with, and super flexible. This last office move was particularly difficult with some last minute changes to the plan and Terry accommodated it all in stride. All the movers are also always friendly, courteous, and super skilled. Above Average!?!?! Come on now....Consider renaming "TOP NOTCH MOVING," or "BEST IN CLASS MOVING!!" We had a fantastic experience with this company. We used them once in March 2020. The quote process over the phone was straight forward and they answered the phone when I called for follow up. On moving day they arrived on time!! That's a plus right there. Lawrence and Nate were the movers and they were polite calling me Sir. Woa! They asked permission to use the bathroom and their memory on where stuff goes in the new house was surprising. I couldn't even remember where stuff goes. They worked fast

I used Abover Average for a move from a one bedroom apartment in Middleton to a two bedroom apartment that was about 2 miles away.
The two movers who did the work were on time and never took a break. They were just as excited to get the move over with as I was since they had another move to complete that same day. For big items they wrapped in padding or used the plastic wrap (e.g., couch, an older large screen TV). I over packed a few kitchen boxes but they moved those boxes without complaint.

They did all the things you would expect- answer the phone, provide an accurate estimate, arrive on time, and move our stuff carefully. But then they did more, which made me think they are way above average. Taping down runners to protect floors, RUNNING back from the truck (when not carrying stuff), speeding up the process by a lot, offering very smart suggestions on grouping things in boxes, things I would have never thought of. Basically they showed that they are PROFESSIONAL movers, as opposed to some large guys who are strong but might not really know about moving. A+ move for us, way above

I can't write a review of how well Above Average moved my daughter's possessions because They. Never. Showed. Up. Read that again. They. Never. Showed. Up. A crew was supposed to arrive beween 10 AM and 12 noon. When no one showed by 12:30, my daughter called. Terry and crew, according to the staffer, were "behind." At 2 PM, called again. Staffer said she'd contact Terry. My daughter called back again; staffer said Terry wasn't "returning her call."

Something must have happened with this company recently... it came highly recommended and has many good reviews.
My son-in-law had the MOVE FROM HELL! He was quoted a 7 hour move that took almost 17 hours. The movers did not appear to know what they were doing. One example was trying to fit a couch through a door 3 times before they figured out that turning it around would make it go through.
My daughter and son in law had to leave for work, so I stayed until they finished.

My 1-bedroom apartment move was done competently, but I'll avoid using them again. I'll start with the good . . . once they finally arrived, my movers were nice folks who clearly knew what they were doing. I had some minor damage to one item but they seemed to have worked very carefully in general. They were friendly and helpful. The move itself went pretty smoothly, so normally I'd only have good things to say.

Everything starting from getting a quote to the actual move was wonderfully easy. The guys were fast and friendly. They made the move from my parents house to mine very stress free. Some very delicate antique furniture and my mother's old piano were all handled perfectly. I will highly recommend Above Average Moving to my friends.

We hired Above Average Moving to help us get our stuff from a trailer up to our third-floor apartment in an old Victorian house. They were fantastic. Both guys were friendly and in good cheer and worked like machines. While they moved boxes, they strategized with us about how to get the bigger furniture pieces up the narrow staircase. They managed to fit a couch up the stairs that I honestly thought I'd have to donate.

I recently had a pretty chaotic moving situation, where I had very little time to get my (copious) amount of stuff to a new place. Terry responded to my Yelp message almost immediately, and was able to get to my place to help me move within only a few hours notice.
