Spot bonding is not an approved method for installing tiles. The NTCA handbook states that all tiles installed in wet areas must have at least 95% mortar coverage. The tiles above might have 50% coverage. In addition, all wet areas must receive the correct moisture proofing materials to be successful.
This shower had a moisture barrier drywall installed for about 1 year as a backer board for shower. This is not an approved method of installation! Outside of the shower would have been fine, but not inside. It is not difficult to see how much water the drywall absorbed in this period of time. The customer paid to have the job done twice!

Carl was amazing, True artist. He bumped out my kitchen window so the backsplash tile would sit behind it and you can’t even tell, perfection. The backsplash I chose in the kitchen was a grout-less stacked stone slate, truly beautifull but extremely difficult to install (think all those outlets!).
Many installers we interviewed never got back to us or let on how difficult it would be, but Carl explained everything and had great ideas to make it more doable. He was always on time and communicated with us on everything. His upbeat positive attitude was always appreciated.
