Square Nail is a custom furniture store in Andersonville Chicago, dedicated to creating unique designs from reclaimed materials. They take their name from the antique nails they pull from the wood. Founded by two Chicago-bred brothers Mike and Dan Wynne, Square Nail sources wood such as walnut, white & red elm, oak, and pine from knocked down factories and abandoned barns.
The knotty, warped, nail-punctured boards, brings appreciated beauty and personality to each piece they create. Other found materials such as metal, and glass add history and texture to their work. Collaborating with stain glass artist, hand wood turner, and iron welder you can find an assortment of lamps, benches, tables, butcher blocks, kitchen islands, vanities, vases, stained glass windows, mirrors and frames.
All items are unique designs that range from clean & sleek to rustic & heavy. But one of the most unique aspects of Square Nail is that it is divided into showroom and wood shop. While they have created a number of pieces to demonstrate skill and generate ideas, at Square Nail they would love to work with you to create a custom piece.

I highly recommend Square Nail. Square Nail made a custom set of shelves to fit into an odd space. Maximizing storage space is always a necessity when living in a condominium. They offered suggestions during the “design” phase which helped a lot. The shelves were made from a gorgeous ash wood and the shelves are SOLID and gorgeous. Thank You Square Nail for all your help on this project and delivering a quality product that I will enjoy forever!

Square Nail made us an absolutely gorgeous Siberian Elm dining table. This was our first piece of custom furniture, and they made sure we got exactly what we were hoping for: helped us pick a wood, get just the right size, even let us come in to the shop once our slabs came in to help decide on the final way we wanted the pieces to fit together to get the shape and wood patterns we liked best! Great people, great quality, and all at a reasonable price. Highly recommend checking them out!

The folks at Square Nail produced for us a gorgeous, butcher block style dining room table. We just held our first Thanksgiving on the table and got lots of compliments.
Originally the table was an 8ft table and we worked with Dan to add two drop leafs at each end to give us 10 ft total. The additional leaves turned out wonderfully and tuck neatly away under each end of the table.
My wife and I could not be happier with the table. From initial discussions to adding the leaves to delivery, Dan and his team treated us well and provided excellent service.
