When the federal government needed to update its federal court buildings to comply with the American Disabilities Act, it turned to Jim Garman. As the space and facilities coordinator, Jim was responsible for bringing the court buildings in his district up to code. To say the least, this task was a huge undertaking, for it included renovating and adding to the buildings, some of which were more than 100 years old.
Jim Garman has always been a detail oriented person. In fact, he majored in accounting as an undergrad at the University of Maryland, and he spent most of his career working as a space and facilities coordinator for the federal government. He's the kind of person who enjoys making sure every piece of a project comes together just right.
During his twenty years as a builder, Jim has gotten to know many people in his industry, and he has come to rely on certain subcontractors who share his high standards. He has long-term relationships with these craftsmen, and they operate on mutual respect and a drive to get the job done right. When you work with Jim, you can expect to work with the highest level of professionals during all stages of your project.
During his twenty years building homes, Jim has received many awards recognizing him for his excellent practices in construction. Below are some of which we are most proud. This is a prestigious award given by the Hilton Head Area Homebuilders Association each year to recognize the builder's commitment to quality construction.
Jim Garman received his Master Builder Certification in 2008. The Certified Master Building program requires applicants to take 20 hours of initial classes, provide references, submit proof of sound business practices, and meet various other standards for consideration. Once builders receive the certification, they must take 10 hours of continuing education courses a year.
