Services
We give every retail customer $ 1 worth of August Bucks for every $10 they spend at our store from January through July. These "dollars" then can be redeemed in the month of August through the Labor Day weekend for up to 50% off the purchase of any store item * whether it be full retail or a sale item.
Native plants: The list below represents native plants we most often carry. The list was generated from the list of natives as shown on the Indiana Native Plant & Wildlife Society's (INPAWS) website. There are other native plants we can special order, but certain quantities would be required. We do carry many cultivars of natives not listed here.
Here at McKinley Garden Center we offer a 1 year warranty on all or trees and shrubs. We do not offer warranties on Perennials, annuals, tropicals, roses, grasses, or hanging baskets. We will not warranty a plant that clearly shows lack of watering or over watering. Please take a picture of the tree or shrub and bring in the picture along with your receipt (please do not tear tree or shrub out of ground prior to us viewing the picture).
We carry a large variety of seed mixes along with black oil sunflower, whole meat sunflower, safflower and nyjer (thistle) seed. Crack corn, whole corn cobs, meal worms and suet cakes round out our offerings. Model C-50 is a more robust unit that is thermostatically controlled to run only when the temperature falls below 35 degrees Fahrenheit.
The best way to know how water behaves in your soil is to dig a test hole one to two feet deep and fill with water. If it drains away in an hour or two you have excellent drainage. If it drains overnight, you have adequate drainage. If it stands any longer, you have poor drainage. Set a rain gauge in an open area of your garden to learn how much water your garden receives in a week.

There is a lot to see at this place. They have so many things you can definitely spend a couple hours here. Prices some are reasonable some I was like I will just order that on line .... that's crazy high prices. They have huge variety of gardening... flowers.. roses... trees... just everything. It is well maintained and very nice.

I love this garden center. Some items are pricy...others are a bargain! I missed an anchor in the antique area, it was sold. I was able to grab a mini hosta I have seen no where else for under $5.00. Also found climbing Lazy Susan...do you know how hard this is to find? I will be visiting more often to see what treasures I can find! I plan to use my August Bucks to buy a Gnome I am in love with. Take your time, walk slowly, enjoy the beauty. It's like a mini botanical garden!

Really nice plants and plant things (pots, trellises, garden decor, etc.). Super expensive. This one employee wasn't wearing a mask even though they are required and she was talking loudly and annoyingly about how she wasn't going to wear one. I saw many plants I wanted but I didn't buy anything because they were all too expensive. There were some beautiful hibiscus, some cool succulents, and a cylindrical sansevieria I want. There were some peve minaret bald cypress which are my favorite tree. They were too expensive. Basically, plants are awesome and I want them all, but they cost too much here
