Monarc Construction Corporation was founded in 1987 by John Bellingham with the Trammell Crow Company Residential Division. Changes in the construction industry in the early 1990's induced Monarc Construction's corporate separation from the Trammell Crow Company. Under the continued guidance of John Bellingham, the successful business created over previous years was carried forward and became Monarc, Inc.
Monarc has two divisions within the company: the Commercial Division and the Service and Special Projects Division. The Service and Special Projects division typically undertake the jobs under $1,000,000 and self-performs a large amount of work. The Commercial division typically handles projects above $1,000,000.
Monarc is pleased to have been recognized for our outstanding safety program. Under the guidance of Monarc's Safety and Quality Control Officer, the company has been recognized as having one of the country's best safety records. National Associated Builders and Contractors Safety Training & Evaluation Process (S.T.E.P.) Award from 2007 through 2021.
Monarc has always sought to minimize the built environment's effects on the world. Monarc traditionally reuses the building materials - removing them carefully and with respect for their age and history, to be reused or recycled into a new project. Historic Renovation is one of the biggest green sustainable building techniques.
Situated off the shore of the Anacostia River in the "Yards" (just north of the Nationals Ball Park), this stand-alone building houses the District's first winery. On auger piles and a thickened concrete slab, the steel structure is cladded in a custom aluminum curtain wall system providing a 360 degree view of the re-developed Yards.
