Jute Interior Design
At Jute, we create warm, welcoming, unique spaces designed for real life. With backgrounds in art, antiques, and architecture, our San Francisco and Santa Monica based team blends custom construction, well-crafted furnishings, and carefully considered details into beautifully comfortable interiors without fuss or clutter.

Because we believe great design is not about our style. It's about the best version of yours. Led by Alison Davin, a 15-year veteran known for one-of-a-kind details and a practical approach, we share a love for design-build projects that allow light, space, and natural elements to flow with your home's daily life.

Every aspect is gracefully layered to create a personalized atmosphere that's perfectly balanced and approachable. With projects ranging from city family homes in Los Angeles to Sonoma County rural escapes and Santa Barbara seaside villas, we aim for a lived-in feel, fusing charm and character with function and ease.
Services
This Bay Area home maximizes natural light through custom design. A complete gut renovation transformed this Tuscan-style home into a modern Mediterranean with an easy flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. Custom-made furniture and tailored upholstery provide the perfect neutral backdrop for the client's growing art collection.
Does anyone actually like doing laundry? Then again, if you're doing the wash in a dark, damp, unfinished space, that may have something to do with it. Wouldn't it be nice if there were a way to make this unavoidable chore a little less tedious? Zoom calls at the island. Homework at the banquette. A glass of wine at the bar.
Climate change is real. Over the last 150 years, increased greenhouse gas emissions-particularly carbon dioxide-have trapped heat in the atmosphere and made the planet gradually warmer. The number-one source of these emissions: burning fossil fuels for energy. For many people, autumn means going back to school, changing colors, and pumpkin spice everything.
There's a nip in the air, and it's time to trade your rose for a glass of red, but that doesn't mean you need to spend the next six months indoors. Thanks to heat lamps and outdoor fireplaces (and down jackets), we can extend our time outside well into autumn. Remember when grabbing a backpack and a Eurail pass and hitting seven cities in two weeks sounded like a good idea?

We worked with Jute on building our home from the ground up. They worked alongside our architect and builder and brought a wealth of knowledge to the project. Their experience was very appreciated since this was our first large project.
The Jute team was both creative and practical in their approach, they took the time to understand how we would use spaces, and created an amazing home for us!

Wonderful experience working with these folks. They give good guidance for first-time decorators. Lots of flexibility and patience, and a good process for selecting your favorite design.

Alison specializes in creating beautiful homes that are family friendly and we enthusiastically recommend working with her! She was very helpful in directing us where to spend our money to make the most impact and had great contacts for art, custom furniture and drapery. She also has really good discounts with different national and local vendors (sometimes up to 50% listed prices) which was much appreciated. She is very good at mixing expensive/inexpensive pieces so that you stretch your budget as much as possible. We are so glad to have worked with her to create a home that we love to live in

Jute helped transform my small Santa Monica bungalow from white walls to a comfortable chic living space. I was so impressed with all of Alison's ideas, she has the perfect eye to mix traditional and modern pieces.
I had my living room, kitchen/ eating area and bedroom all redone by her. My favorite pieces include the custom fabric she recommended for my pillows and old furniture I had recovered to look brand new.
I would recommend Jute to anyone looking to transform their home, and I will definitely be using them for my next home.

Alison Davin is incredible! Her ability to translate my family's lifestyle and likes/dislikes into the most wonderful rooms is amazing. Her taste and knowledge of where to find unique items is invaluable as well.

Alison worked her magic in our two children's rooms this fall and helped us start to work on our master bedroom.

I am most impressed by her ability to work with the pieces we already had and wanted to keep, and using those items to optimize the space while adding design features and items to transform the rooms into something more than special. Everyday I am so happy in
