I cannot give them any stars. Do not do business with this outfit. They are big talkers who do shoddy work and do not deliver as promised. If you have already decided to use them and have made a down payment, do NOT pay the balance in advance. We were foolish enough to do that. We were told though that the balance needed to be paid before they could order the remaining supplies needed to complete the railroad. We foolishly trusted them. Our layout was first scheduled for delivery in December 2019, but it didn't happen. Our calls were ignored. After much pestering on our part it was

It all started as an email. Then 3 well detailed emails later. I had to stop by the shop. I am new at this ho scale hobby. Let me tell ya, these guys here made me feel like this was my home. Gave me some do’s and do nots in this hobby. Pointed me to the right direction. Answer ALL my questions. Andy was amazing. I felt good to leave my engines with him. This is the place to go. All their stuff is super cheap compared to the online stores. Everything you need train wise this is the place to be. Yes i will be returning. Yes, i will not let the wife know i stopped in. Overall a great, amazing atmosphere

Christmas saved! Our Santa engine stopped playing sounds 2 days into December... our 4 year old boy was crushed. I called a few places and was quoted weeks to months for a turn around time. These guys fixed the wiring while we waited and we were able to get the engine back to delivering Christmas magic.

I stopped in this place because I heard they bought out a different hobby shop that I used to frequent when that owner retired. Turns out that they do a completely different business well yes they offer train parts train sets and all the paraphernalia with it they also build full size and huge scale sets in scenery for discerning customers

I had a contract with AER to sell my late husband's train collection and layout. Instead I received excuse after excuse as to why they couldn't pay me. They sent me a check that bounced, then claimed that I agreed to pay storage on the layout (I did not). The owner refused to return any of my unsold trains (many of them brass) and also refused to pay me for the layout, holding my property hostage. I had to threaten to sue him and ended up paying a lawyer $2500 to get my own property back. If anyone is contemplating suing this guy, or better yet, filing criminal charges, I will be more

I purchased a used model railroad layout from AER over a year ago. It was supposed to be delivered in late 2017 or early 2018 in conjunction with a project they had in the great Dallas area. Weeks and months went by with very little or no communication. Each and every time promises were made to improve the communication. I have a group of emails and text messages made over the year (plus) with many promises made and my very generous acceptance of repeated delays (always a story) with more promises of delivery. I asked for a price and plans for an addition to the layout that I requested in the spring

I've never had any issues with this company. They have a great selection of trains and accessories and have done several repairs on my locomotive. Now, in knowing that they don't have tons of people working for them (which is expected) they do a great job.
Their showroom has been adding items on a regular basis that you cannot find anywhere else. The selection of Athearn, Roundhouse, VARNEY, and a host of other kits is beyond what I've seen in years. I also collect some O scale and can tell you that what I've purchased is much more affordable than what I've been paying at other hobby shops.

Just left their store and had a great experience. Lots of good selections from everything in O and S. I got a great deal on some loose parts found in the back of the store that the owner let me dig around for. They've got a lot of loose parts that's a treasure grove if you ask to see them in the back.
Pretty neat shop to have around. I can remember taking a Saturday to go around to all of the stores looking for deals. But today, they're are very few left and those around have way too high prices. I picked up two O scale cars and my friend picked up some HO items. Overall, they're real easy to

Everyone at the American Eagle Rail Group store has been exceptionally attentive to my son. My son is 11 years old and beyond passionate about trains. Andy has spent a LOT of time talking "shop" with him. My son loves the train shop and seeing the large scale displays they are making for other clients. I never knew how intricate train displays were until now. Andy helped my son select additional cars, track, etc for his collection. He spent quite a bit of time dismantling the train engine so he could teach my son how to replace parts on the engine and put it back together, i.e. replacing the coupler

I am not sure who the other people are talking about in these reviews but I don’t think Andy the owner couldn’t have been any more helpful to me and my son. We are just getting into the HO hobby and went down to his store to tire kick and try to learn a little. Andy took the time to show us all kinds of different options for our layout and even had a partially built one there showing us options for ours. He spent over an hour with us answering all of our beginner questions. We hadn’t planned on buying anything but after we got looking around at the amount of inventory and prices we came out

I had consigned my late husband's layout and rolling stock to A.E.R. Despite our contract, they have been consistently late in paying me, and I always have to pursue them to get anything. I should have known when it took forever to get a signed agreement. The owner always has an excuse for why they haven't paid in a timely manner. I was promised a payment in April 2015 then the owner texted me that his sister had died (I've no idea if this was true). I was naturally sympathetic, and I did finally receive a check two weeks later. It bounced, causing my bank to deduct the $2,681 (plus a $10 fee
