Ax Tree Services deserves all 5 stars. I contacted Elias to remove 4 large trees (including one 70 dead tree) and their stumps, 5 bushes, and 2 stumps that were left from the previous owner who decided to not remove them after removing trees. Elias was very responsive to texts/emails and came out the day after I contacted him for an estimate. I had other estimates but his was the lowest by almost 30%. Elias responded to my Request based on the Photo and promptly gave me a very reasonable offer. Upon arrival the job was much bigger than he anticipated and a very tricky job. He mentioned that he'd had under estimated the job and that since he couldn't use the crane due to tight spot it would be a manual effort and cost more. I was impressed with the Ax Tree Service Operation and their team. They responded to all my request that I ask them to do. I did some investigation on the price that they offer me to cut down two of my trees and they had the best offer in town. They were ready to work and they didn’t waste any time on doing the job. Ax Tree Services butchered my 100 year-old elm tree. An arborist who inspected the damage said it was the worst work he'd seen in his 24 year career, he couldn't believe Ax was licensed, and the tree may die as a result.
My neighbor hired Ax to cut the branches from my tree that overhung his yard. Ax did the work without my permission. They cut over my property line, and hacked off so many large, thick branches that the tree may not survive. A part of a tree fell in my back yard, fortunately not damaging my or my neighbors' houses, but filling the back yard with pieces of tree. I called Ax Tree Services, and Elias called me back right away. He gave me an estimate the same day and sent out a crew out the next day.
They cleaned up the fallen branch, trimmed that tree back, cut off the dead part of another tree on the property, and trimmed a third tree that had been damaged by falling limbs. All this and they cleaned up meticulously!

The job was to remove a very large old tree in my backyard. The owner gave me a quote of $3800 which he changed to $4500 when they got there. He told me it was because they had to get a crane. As they were working, I heard a large crash on my roof. I asked for a photo of the damage and he sent me a picture of a tiny little hole. The work in question was a large, thick oak. Their written agreement was to cut into 16-inch long pieces. But many of the pieces they left were substantially longer than 16 inches. The longest ones they left were two massive pieces of the trunk over 4 feet long. The excess length (hence weight) of these pieces will make clean up difficult.

I contacted Ax as a second estimate for my tree/stump removal project. They came in cheaper and completed the project faster than the my first estimate. I contacted Ax via the website on Saturday, traded texts with project lead on Sunday, and Monday afternoon they were out here to do the project (they removed 5 dead pine trees ranging from 12-21'). Their work was great. Highly recommend giving this company a shot at earning your trust.

I had a tall poplar tree with a thick base. The branches were really extended and sometimes falling very close to the house. I reached out to Ax Tree Services to assess the tree and provide a quote. Elias the owner responded back immediately and was over to my place very quickly. I also wanted to trim the branches of a large maple tree (see pictures) and remove a medium sized line tree. The price provided was very competitive and they were able to get started on the project the same week.

We used Ax Tree Services for the 2nd time this weekend (1st time was last year) to cut down a large tree in our yard. The owner, Elias, was very responsive when called to come out and look at it. Once he looked at it they were out to cut it down the next day. Very fast service!!! The work was completed safely and the crew was very professional while on site. They also did a great job getting the tree down and cleaning up the yard when finished.
I would highly recommend them, and will certainly call them for any needs in the future!

I spoke with Elias 2 days ago & agreed on a very reasonable price. They just came to my house in Lorton and cut a big tree from my front yard and removed the stump. I’m not only impressed by their speed and efficiency but they were fully staffed and equipped (6-8 guys 4-5 different trucks and took over my neighborhood & literally took them less than an hour to take the tree down, grind the stump, and clean up). They just came and left in a whiff! Would definitely recommend for any type of tree related service!

I would give Ax 6 stars if I could. To be honest I was a little nervous because their price to remove my large oak tree was lower than everyone else's, but I could not be more happy with the quality of work and the level of service. I got 5 bids on the job and theirs was by far the lowest.

Elias and his team were wonderful. He was responsive to our original inquiry and then, kept in close touch as we navigated a permit requirement with the city of Alexandria.
Background-- this was our third try to get a large maple tree removed from our townhouse backyard. In order to get a permit, we needed to pay the city, and have Elias update his insurance to include the city. Elias was wonderful at each turn.

Before we had a chance to schedule them, one of our trees snapped in a recent wind storm and they came out the next day to secure the limb and did our full removal the following day.
