Services
HMR ARCHITECTS is a firm committed to providing clients with the highest quality architectural services for projects that range from civic and institutional buildings to custom homes. Originally founded in 1965 as Holt & Morgan Architects, HMR is based in Princeton, New Jersey. Architectural and planning projects for institutions, museums, libraries, and residences make up a large part of HMR's practice.
HMR's architectural portfolio offers a wide range of contextual new building designs, adaptive re-use of existing buildings, and historic preservation projects. Architectural services include programming and space planning, building design, master plans, conditions surveys, site design, construction administration, feasibility studies, and green design / sustainability.
This new fire and police building was designed based on recommendations of a borough-wide study. HMR worked closely with both departments to provide a new building that thoroughly respects the surrounding architectural context of its prominent downtown site while responding to demanding programmatic and technological requirements.
Somerville Borough Hall, built in 1887, is a Gothic Revival structure with a large 1930s addition located at the confluence of two major roads at the north end of Main Street. HMR completed an Exterior Condition Assessment to provide an overall investigation of the exterior and make recommendations for its repair and long-term rehabilitation.
