Services
You've done it enough to have both technical mastery and a real eye for what is visually appealing. You are proud of what you made, but it just isn't quite 'good enough.' There need to be others who do what you do who will explain to me why you are really good at what you do. I am a huge admirer of craftsmanship in its many forms; but I can't pretend to be able to discern the 'good' from the 'great' in areas other than woodworking.
I make each cutting board by hand and strive for something both beautiful and well-made. For all the information you could want on wood cutting boards (including care and maintenance), see the FAQ. We are happy to make custom styles and sizes- just ask. Custom boards generally take 2-3 weeks to make.

We have a number of talented craftspersons in Plano, TX who will work in partnership with you to bring your vision to life. Traditionally, wood is the medium used for most custom furniture.
A custom hand turned wood pen is one that is built from the best possible components. It should feel good in the hand and write better than any other pen you own. Unlike factory-produced pens such as Montblanc's, each of our handmade pens is unique, crafted by an artisan who has decades of experience in carefully turning one-of-a-kind works of functional art.

LoneStar Artisans designed with 3D renderings, built and installed a combination large screen tv stand, book shelf, and cabinetry with a foot print of 130 inches long and over 96 inches tall for our living room. We are extremely impressed with the first class professionalism, attention to every detail, and overall enthusiasm on the project. It made for a rewarding process and we are impressed with the finished product. Fantastic craftsmanship, great service & price, and highly recommended!

We approached John for help on our bathroom vanity project late last year. John came by and measured the space and made adjustments to my plans as necessary to keep proportions in scale. John also served as councel in helping us select the wood species that best fit our projects color scheme. The vanity wood work is excellent.

I used LoneStar Artisans about six months ago to make a birthday present for my sister. I knew she need a new work desk so I thought I would try to find something special and I found LoneStar. I don't know much about furniture but I brought in a few pictures of my sister's favorite furniture and I just let LoneStar take the lead. The results where amazing! My sister loved the desk and I love LoneStar Artisans for making it.

I wouldn't go anywhere else for fine, up-scale, hand-crafted woodworking and furniture. Lonestar Artisans has already completed numerous projects for me, including a nice, end-grain cutting board and a one-of-kind jewlery box using wood that is so old it can't be accurately carbon-dated. As of this writing, they are working on a third piece of furniture for me, which will include a full-sized cutting board that will double as a working surface. I have no less than two additional projects lined up for them, including a custom-made office desk and a custom-made 10-seat poker table.

Nice guy. He helped me pick out a cutting board that is perfect. We use it as a decorative cutting board for bread when we have family meals and company - weekly. We are a little rough on the board, but its held up really well and still looks fantastic. I've started giving these cutting boards as gifts. I'm considering having them do a desk for my work-at-home office. Its not inexpensive, but the craftsmanship is second to none.

I have two products from LoneStar Artisans: a cutting board with an inlay of the state of Texas (gorgeous!), and a "toy chest" that I had him build for my kids. The toy chest is solid construction that withstands the beatings that my children regularly give it. Also, there are safety hinges to ensure that no tiny fingers get smashed. I'm very proud of this piece because John Loftis was able to design and come up with something far better than I imagined. Over all, I'm extremely pleased with his work.
