I reached out to Palomar Solar and Roofing in need of a new roof. I bought my house a few years ago which has an existing leased solar system from Sun Run. I was warned about buying a house with an existing leased solar system and now I know why. I have reached out to Sun Run multiple times unable to speak to someone about reroofing with the existing system, it was like trying to get through to an insurance company on hold for hours! This company must pride itself on hiring salespeople who do not want your business. I reached out to the rep, explaining that we’d like to install solar as soon as possible. I gave him everything he needed directly after the call; drone shots of our roof, even our home inspection report which details the roof’s age and materials. He said it would take a week to get my solar design back. When expressing my surprise for the lag time, he apathetically and almost arrogantly said they were really busy. The only reason this is a 1-star review is that 0 is not an option. Palomar did not install my system but they did agree to service it after the installer went out of business. They charged a nominal administrative fee to cover the cost of changing who is responsible for monitoring my system. They further explained there is a $150 service charge when they come out. Neither of these terms was an issue for me.
We've needed them for service 3 times now. Each time it takes them forever to get here. The reason they give is that their service tech is also

I called Palomar Solar in April 2021 to see about adding panels to the solar panel they installed a few years ago. They never responded with a call back so I called again in May. They said they don't know what happened and they would call back. One month more passed with no response so I called again i June to be told the same thing. This time I told them I was not interested in just bing put off with no contact until I was able to talk to someone, who made an appointment and came to talk at my house on June 30th 2021. For over 6 years, Palomar Solar has continued to deliver excellence! The initial install was perfect. Their savings projections / ROI were "spot-on". Our 2020 electric bill was $4.59 for the year. Nice! We like that we're able to see our panels' performance and monthly production. We just got a new internet router & Palomar notified us that our system was no longer reporting production. I just had a 6.3DC kWh system installed with micro inverters which offer per panel monitoring . I interviewed a couple reputable local companies and though I thought both would do a good job I choose PS . I liked the way they offered the micro inverter technology upfront . Dealing with the sales dept: Adam & Sid , office : Celina , roofing: George and electrical: Jose & Anthony they were all professional, pleasant ,kept me well informed and completed the job prior to their estimate. Palomar Solar has been incredibly outstanding since our initial contact with them. Initially, we spoke with Erik Zetmeir, energy consultant, who evaluated our prior year energy use and then formulated a proposal based on our useage. But that actually gives me a good amount of time to evaluate the company and the system they installed.
We interviewed 6 different companies. We asked each to provide a roof mount and a ground mount quote. Two of the companies said a ground mount was not possible, so we eliminated them. All the remaining companies each gave us vastly different quotes, all over the map as far a pricing and systems. Each had a different roof configuration if we went that way

My initial meeting with Palomar Solar was very promising. To complete the proposal salesperson Eric said he needed to discuss the installation requirements with his roofer at which time he would email Palomar's quote. Two weeks later I received nothing so I called him up to ask about it and he said he'd call by 5 pm that afternoon. Two days - no call or anything from him.
So all-in-all, I'd say 1 star is being generous. I have no further explanation but will take my business elsewhere of course towards a company that wants to work.

What is there not to say about Palomar Solar. We were the first years recipients of Palomar Solars give away at the Miramar Air Show. The owners and staff that work there are the definition of professionalism. Their dedication to supporting our military is amazing. Palomar installed my system 9 months ago. I had a great experience with the entire crew and owner. The system has worked flawlessly and I couldn't be happier. I waited to see how everything was working before I actually wrote a review of this company. Everything done by Palomar Solar was excellent. The installation and customer service was exceptional. The owner was on site daily to inspect and make changes as needed; great hands-on service.
