Born in California and raised in Colorado, Michael Black of Lane Lock and Key is the new face of locksmithing in Eugene, Oregon. After 15 years in Japan and Hollywood as a Sound Mixer at major studios, he changed his course in life and hit the streets of L.A. as a Code Enforcement Officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors.
Key fobs provide a convenient way to lock and unlock your car doors. Rather than having to open your door with a key, you can use a key fob that offers remote access. Key fobs send a signal to the car's door locking mechanism, allowing you to both unlock and lock the doors even if you are standing some distance away.
If your car was manufactured within the last decade, there is a good chance that it uses a transponder chip key. I would like to comment on the other review by the guy who claimed the locksmith, mike, was mentally unstable (based on a text message...haha!). I looks to me like the customer did not post all of the related text messages. Specifically, he had negotiated a lower labor rate with mike which mike had agreed to. But common sense tells you that mike was planning on making up the difference with some profit on the key blank (a fancy remote control car key). Then at the last

I called to get a quote from Lane Lock and Key for an auto key cut from the VIN and a new proximity key fob. (I recently bought a used car that has a proximity fob. It does not need a key to open the, unless the battery is dead). My key did not turn in the driver's side door. I was asked to send a picture of my existing key and key fob. I sent the pictures. I received a near immediate text back with the advice for me to lubricate my car door lock cylinder to loosen the lock cylinder so my existing key will work. Honestly Mike was the quickest locksmith I've ever used (and I lock my keys in my car a lot). He showed up within minutes, unlocked my car in literally 20 seconds, and made me a new key in under 4 minutes. I am beyond impressed. Plus, he charged me the most reasonable price I've ever seen! Keeping him on speed dial!

I had a bad feeling from the start of the call. The man who answered was extremely abrupt. I told him I would like a quote for some services (not every business gives phone quotes so I didn't want to explain what I needed until he confirmed he could give a quote). He said 'ok' abruptly again and I was quiet for a second, thinking he may need to grab a pen if he was on the road. Then it was 'what is it that you want'? As if I was some buzzing mosquito and not a potential customer. I began trying to explain what I wanted...as a new home owner all of these services and interactions

I can't say enough good things about Michael at Lane Lock and Key. We have a 1960s house, and the handle on our metal screen door (original to the house) broke off. Two other local businesses told us finding a replacement part was not possible and that we needed a new door. We really didn't want to replace the door, as the original has great details, and our home is a duplex, so we didn't want the two sides to be mismatched. I lost key to one of my 10 year old and discontinued Sandusky cabinets.
I called this company. Mike (the owner) asked me to read the number
on the lock to him which I did. Within 1 hour he was there with 2 sets of brand new keys. And the keys fitted to the lock just like a glove.

These guys were super quick, easy and cheap. We needed a really early morning locksmith to open our vechicle. They got someone out to us within just minutes, even at that super early time of the morning! No added fees for "after hours" like some of the other companies charge either!! They made it so quick and so easy that my husband was barely even late to work!!

I locked my keys in my car for the first time 2 hours away from home and was in a state of panic! A lot of the locksmiths were fully booked and/or fighting fires (idk why, but thank you for fighting fires for us!). Michael was the only locksmith able to help me out and was incredibly kind and professional! He was booked until six hours later but he arrived about an hour earlier than I was expecting him! He got my keys our on the first attempt and didn't damage anything or set off any alarms! My insurance didn't cover it but it was cheap! He drove to me from about an hour and a half away

Man oh man was this an easy experience! I searched for the cheapest option for a spare key to my '16 Camry for a few days before I broke down and called these guys. Not only were they the cheapest option (by at least 50%) but they also met me at work to create the spare! The whole process- from initial call to having a spare- was less than 45 min. I think the key cutting/programming was less than 7 minutes. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately, I locked myself out of my car twice in the span of one week (long story) and I had to use two different locksmiths. The first experience was absolutely awful, time consuming, and hard on my car. Lane Lock and Key was literally 60 times faster (they had my car open in under a minute vs. an hour!) AND it cost $5 less (at $45 card/ $40 cash).
If I ever need help again, I will definitely be using Lane Lock and Key. Thanks guys. :)
