I personally would NOT RECOMMEND Dr.Altenbern. The ONLY reason I’m seeing him is because his literally the only OB that accepts the insurance I have . Thankfully I am relocating and won’t have to deal with him anymore. With this being my first pregnancy I had concerns about the OB being friendly and acknowledgeable . Needless to say from my experience his NEITHER. Either he has too many patience’s or just doesn’t care to read charts. I had some blood work done and he came into the room I was in and said “ well I don’t know what blood type you are it’s something….” One appointment

Dr.Altenbern is a good doctor (I've only seen him once) but his Office Manager Cassey is so RUDE!! She handles the billing and good luck getting anywhere with her. They will charge you for another office visit to come back in to get your prescriptions and to read your blook work (one week later). The receptionist, Missy is so sweet and great to talk too. Maybe Dr.Altenbern needs to find more employees like her! It's said the doctor has know idea how his employees are running his patients off. READ THE REVIEWS, I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO FEELS THIS WAY.

Dr. Altenbern has zero "bedside manner" and I left feeling extremely uncomfortable physically and emotionally. I called the office to cancel a later appointment and to describe my feelings about my experience with him, but there was no interest on their end in understanding why I would not be returning. I would not recommend this doctor.

The accounting and office staff are disorganized. They threaten to send me collections weekly even though I’m making payments. Dr. Altenbern does not have a great bedside manner and never remembers anything about me or my health even though I’ve been seeing him for years. It’s not the worst care, but you can definitely find a better doctor and office.

My initial OB unfortunately retired just after my 16 week visit, so I switched to Dr. Altenbern because he was taking over my previous OB’s practice and patients. After having our 20 week anatomy scan (which was incredible and exciting), my husband and I went to our first appointment with Dr. Altenbern. When he walked in it was clear he didn’t read my chart or my ultrasound report prior to walking in the room. I was skeptical at first, what woman isn't when it comes to choosing a dr for their pregnancy? Choosing him as a dr was the best choice we could have made. He made the right choice to induce when needed and kept me and my son alive, did great with a difficult stitching job, gave us a wonderful birth experience, and seems to really care about his patients.

I switched to Dr. Altenbern at 24 weeks after being told by Vanderbilt that my baby was small and they were monitoring me as high risk for IUGR. My first appointment with Dr. Altenbern, he told me that my baby wasn’t small, my due date was just wrong. I’m 39 weeks now, with a healthy baby boy, and look forward to Dr. Altenbern delivering my precious life any day now. As long as he’s still in the business, he will deliver my future loves too.
