We are a full-service custom home building firm based in Estes Park, Colorado; located on the doorstep to stunning Rocky Mountain National Park. After two decades of building award-winning mountain homes, I founded Craftsman Built to keep the tradition of old-world carpentry alive today.
Craftsman Built prefers a cost-plus model. Simply put, the interests of the homeowner are better served when there is full visibility in the building process. In a cost-plus model, production expenses pass directly to the client with a pre-negotiated markup to cover the contractor's overhead. Clients receive regular itemized reports and a copy of every receipt.

John is an exceptional craftsman. We have been involved with many contractors, but none matches his talent, professionalism, and commitment to doing it right. Integrity, craftsmanship, and follow through speak to his character. At the end of each project, John provides a copy of every receipt and an itemized report of all activity. His transparency is unmatched. It just doesn't get any better than this.

John Tormalehto rebuilt my house after a water heater exploded and destroyed walls, ceilings, and floors. John's intelligence, skill, creativity, attention to detail, selection of subcontractors, and common sense turned a disaster into a huge improvement. John Tormalehto has done a couple of small home improvement projects for us. He was great to work with. He provided very detailed cost estimates prior to starting. He was always timely with responses to any questions we had during the course of these projects. He oversaw three other contractors on one of the projects to insure quality and timeliness of work. We would highly recommend John on the basis of cost, quality, and timeliness of completion for the work he does. First class quality! John T. was one of the original builders of our home and we were grateful to find him again when we added on.
