Kemora Landscapes is a small, family-run business started by Marisa Gora in 2002 as a one-woman landscape design operation. As a life-long Chicagoan, Marisa found that many landscape companies were not primarily servicing the city of Chicago with its many diverse lot sizes, shapes and features. Therefore, she has built her business around helping homeowners and businesses in Chicago and the nearby suburbs.
Kemora Landscapes has been designing landscapes in the Chicagoland area for over 15 years. Since Chicago and the surrounding area have such a wide variety of landscape spaces, our team in turn offers experience and competency in a variety of areas beyond basic patios and plants. These include outdoor kitchens, native plantings, rain gardens, fire features, rooftops, drainage solutions, synthetic turf, driveways and pool decks.
Kemora offers a variety of services and specialties to personalize and care for your landscape year-round. We'll work with you from the beginning to the end of your project, and will give you the tools for success in maintaining your new landscape in the short and long term. Landscape Designer or Architect - Our Landscape Designers and Architects have either education or work experience in the industry. Most of them have learned the local plant palette and have a sense of what materials and ideas can be applied to any type of space based on light, space and soil conditions.
Our team of landscape designers bring a unique combination of landscape architecture education paired with extensive knowledge of plants to the table. Having worked on thousands of projects in the Chicago area, we can make recommendations for plants that do well under all kinds of Chicago conditions as well as brick, stone, carpentry and other related materials.

I originally posted a bad review about this company based on what I thought would be the final cost to redo the lousy work they did. It turns out, none of my bluestone pavers were cut correctly, so I have to pay another company $1000 more to re-cut them so that they can be spaced evenly. It also turns out that Kemora didn't even lay gravel under my pavers! They are overpriced and do shoddy work. Save your money and time and choose someone else.

Our rooftop deck was recently completed by Kemora Landscapes and we are very pleased. Marisa Gora made several visits to discuss our ideas for the layout and she was very patient with us as our plans changed over time. Marisa offered helpful suggestions, some which were not only practical but cost saving. Once the work started it was completed in 12 working days, allowing for a few rain delays. The crew, a great group, did a wonderful job.
Tom C, the Kemora Landscape carpenter, designed and built a beautiful, unique pergola that fits our space perfectly. Tom was great to work

Critical: Quality, Responsiveness, Value
After spending 5k seven years ago on a 10x12 bluestone patio with Kemora, I just had to hire someone else to dig it all up and redo the foundation. Communication with Kemora is terrible... if you have issues, don’t bother contacting them because they won’t respond.

I am way overdue with this review. After about 2 years and numerous contractors to come look at building out my Rooftop deck I hired Kemora and I am glad I did. They were knowledgeable regarding codes and building structures and used this knowledge to help build our dream deck. I have to give a shout out to Marisa, Tyler, Tom, Will, Nick, and Manuel who did a great job and were a pleasure to work with. highly recommend.

We have worked with Kemora in a number of different ways. Initially we were introduced to them b/c they provided the landscaping for our new home. We enjoyed working with Marisa on that process. We then hired Kemora to handle the mowing and maintenance of our front and side "yards" (small!). I then started asking Faith to provide seasonal flowers for our front steps and back patio area. She does very beautiful work. And finally, we just hired Kemora's snow removal folks to help us this winter. Safe it to say, we're very happy with this company and would recommend them to anyone. My only reason

Kemora Landscapes designed and installed the new landscaping in front of our bungalow. They did a great job of seeing what we were picturing and executing it. They were flexible with timing, and the price was on par with the work they did. We plan on using them if/when we redo the backyard.

Kemora Landscapes does a beautiful job maintaining my yard. They cut the grass, edge all the beds beautifully and clean up all of the clippings. They are very responsive, sending an email if a rain day prohibits them from coming, and they always let us know when they will arrive instead. Very happy with their service.

I've contracted Kemora for several landscaping jobs: they designed and installed the hardscape and plants in my front yard; they planted bulbs in my parkway and replaced dead grass with fresh sod; they designed and installed landscape lighting around my front yard; and they design and install a gorgeous annual container for our front stoop.
All of their work has been professionally and beautifully done. Their annual containers are especially lovely -- they are designed for our shady stoop in mind and they always look amazing. I also use Kemora for annual clean ups, and they leave my landscape
