When ordering a custom bed, the size of the mattress, thickness of the mattress (plus box spring, if you plan to use a box spring), height of the mattress measured from the floor, and the height of the space desired between the mattress bottom and the floor (good for storage space), are all important considerations.
Chests are made in many shapes and sizes and may be ordered to fit the space you wish to use them. They may also be made with traditional hand-cut dovetail drawers or with contemporary machine-cut dovetails and ball-bearing drawer slides. Alan determines the proportions of drawer sizes to be visually pleasing and functional.
When ordering a dining or conference table, after deciding what shape you want the top to be (e.g., oval, round, rectangular), the next important consideration is how many people you want to seat. Larger tables and especially conference tables, are built in sections that will fit into freight elevators and assembled inside the room where they will be used.
Alan Wilkinson was born in Glendale, California, in 1943. He came to Hawai'i in 1963 to surf for a while and ended up staying. He attended the University of Hawaii in a Bachelors of Fine Arts program, majoring in sculpture with a minor in Asian art history. Financial reality changed his career course, starting with a job in a local shipyard working on large wooden vessels.
