Ulmer Construction
Upon returning from World War II, Allan Ulmer attended Dunwoody College for carpentry. To support his growing family, Allan worked as a carpenter. Seeing the value in knowing a trade, Allan taught his son Dennis everything he knew about carpentry. Together, they built our family cabin on Loveless Lake (pictured above).

In 1968, Allan and Dennis partnered to form Ulmer Construction - a small builder that bought lots and built homes - one lot at a time. Over time, Allan and Dennis built hundreds of homes, and developed hundreds of lots in the metro area. Growing up with his Grandpa Allan and his Dad (Dennis), Colin knew he wanted to be in the construction industry from a very young age.

Allan and Dennis passed their knowledge of carpentry and construction down to Colin - making three generations of Ulmer carpenters. After receiving an education in construction management, Colin partnered with Dennis in 2008. While the building industry suffered, the remodeling industry soared. Together, Dennis and Colin turned the focus of their business toward interior and exterior remodeling.

I asked Ulmer Construction to help with a bathroom and kitchen remodel. I had an idea of what I wanted for both but was very much so a duck in a large pond. Colin came over and walked through each room and offered advice on possible options for both. Options that I did not think of but with his description, could tell Colin's vision coming to shape in my home. He was always prompt with my questions concerning the project. His team were prompt and responsible when they came to my house. The job site was always clean. And although there were setbacks outside of their control from lumber and material

Its been over 5 months now, that Ulmer Const, has almost finished our lower level project. I have 2 issues still that need to be taken care of before I submit a final payment of 3,000.00. After numerous phone calls, text messages and emails, no reply at all.
Same contractor finished our neighbors lower level project and he has issues also.
Contractor was paid for work performed, but still owes the subcontactors their money.
Beware of this contractor, talks really nice, but watch out.

Ulmer Remodeling has now completed three different projects on three different homes for my family. They installed a beautiful maintenance free floating floor in a rental I own, a roof on a house we flipped, and now just completed a custom maintenance free deck build. I feel Ulmer remodeling really went the distance to keep me informed during the process which allowed us to make the best budget minded decisions adding value to our properties. The crew showed up ready to work even in less than desirable deck building temps and their positive attitude was refreshing as they worked professionally

Very poor experience with Ulmer Construction LLC.
I will take this as a life lesson regarding General Contractors and what to watch out for. Currently I am in the middle of a kitchen remodel that could have been completed months ago if workers actually showed up and if Colin Ulmer would respond to messages. This project started out fine and had a lot of communication. But currently I am at 6 months for a kitchen remodel when this could have been done in 3 months. I anticipate that I paid them too much for the amount of work done and that was over 50% when it was only at 50% completion. So watch
