Sdi Insulation

These guys lie about the job they can do. They promised that their work would help with sound proofing and said they have done this with thousands of other customers. They said the work would be complete in a day but it took them multiple days. They also damaged our place while doing the job and did not take any ownership. Very untrustworthy company

We are happy to share our great experience with SDI! They came recommended from our HVAC company (Schmitt, a SF mainstay) and we were completely pleased with the result. The SDI project manager, Jason, was friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. He had a great rapport with the team and made a check-in visit onsite while the work was going on. Hugo was the project lead and he was thorough and amiable. Overall we couldn't be happier with the service. Reasonably priced, to boot.

SDI came out once again to do our 2nd bedroom renovation project. Not only do they respond right away but they're terrific in their scheduling for your convenience. Worked again with Pamela. Can't say enough great things about her or the crew. The job may have been small but they were quick, efficient and neat. I would highly recommend SDI for all your insulation needs. Ray came and looked and the job, understood everything, and gave me a good proposal. I think I really got my money's worth.
The crew came as scheduled and worked hard to get the job done right. Important: there was a small problem with some insulation leaking into a joist bay that was part of the heat system. Ray came back and it all got taken care of in a timely manner. Great follow through!

A whole-home energy upgrade expert, NOT just insulators!

From the start of our remodel, I was looking for a state-of-the-art insulator that could think beyond "how many fiberglass batts". This is the ONLY company on the SF Peninsula that I found that delivered that and MORE. Out of the 3 quotes I got, SDI was the ONLY one that was priced with the others that offered energy knowledge and a whole-home approach to energy efficiency. The ONLY one. The two other consultants I called did not do business past the east bay.

Critical: Quality, Value
I spent a fortune on sound proofing insulation and it made zero difference. Asked for a refund and they wouldn’t accommodate. I was promised it would block sound like a sound studio and it’s literally no different. Don’t spend the money or go elsewhere, this was a very disappointing investment.

We saw an SDI Fireplaces advertisement on the KRON 4 TV channel. We have been in our home for 35 years and never used our living room wood-burning fireplace. We have a gas fireplace in our family room and wanted one in our living room as well.

Cost was a huge concern as the gas main is on the opposite side of the house where the fireplace is (approximately 60 feet of gas line). I had received estimates of $4,000 and $5,000 just for the gas line install. This was way over budget and we were about to forget the idea.

This company is very professional and will get your job done very quickly. They insulated a 5,000sqft home in just a few days with virtually zero issues. You might be able to save upfront with a small shop, but you won't get the depth of experience and organization that comes with SDI. They have many levels of organization and are very efficient and thorough. The few small items that needed attention were corrected the next day.

They also know the building codes well, so will make sure the products used are in compliance.

I think I've given up on these people. In the end, they REALLY SHOULDN'T be in the fireplace business. They are TERRIBLE at COMMUNICATION and really good at keeping customers in the dust. I mean, why make your customers mad?

Our Empire Loft fireplace panels have been replaced three times and they look worse than any before because the panels are poor quality and can't withstand elements like heat and gas - so the black enamel splotches and streaks and when the fire is on. I cannot comment on their quality of work, because I'm still waiting to receive an estimate, and the estimator that came out is not responding
to email.

TL;DR:
- Five weeks after estimator visit (2 months after initial contact), and I still don't have an estimate. I also don't have any idea if they will ever get back to me.

Timeline:
jan 21 - First email to SDI to request an estimate.
jan 22 - Email response requesting speak by phone. We speak by phone.
jan 28 - Spoke with estimator. Asked him to coordinate with builder for site visit.
feb 11 - I email estimator and cc the SDI

We hired SDI to do insulation in our newly constructed home. We paid $1,000 via credit card up front to secure them. Due to mandatory county inspections, we had to reschedule (once) on them. Getting them to come out after our original date was difficult, and they gave us a hard time for having to reschedule, even though the nature of construction is dependent upon inspection approvals and beyond our control.
Fast forward to the day of the job... They sent a crew out for a half day. This was a full day job and SDI was well aware of the amount of time it would take. The crew decided they needed

As I was trying to work things out SDI to hopefully avoid a court fight, both the owner Steve and Operations Manager Sam repeatedly copied me on their internal communication where they would be telling their staff to "put a lien" on my property "if she has not paid the insulation bill yet"...

Apparently, those were meant for me to hear....

What they could have done was to walk 3 steps over to their own accounting dept and find out I paid for the insulation right after the job was done, even when my place was left without power...

I decided to have my house insulated and got multiple quotes from the nearest companies and SDI was very competitive with what I was seeing. Don came to my house for the free estimate and was very knowledgeable. I told him what I was looking for and he provided me a few different estimates for doing the walls, attic, and crawlspace. Initially, the guys were a no-show to complete the job with no call. I then called to find out that my project point of contact was no longer with the company. The owner managed to get the team out later that afternoon (thumbs up for that), but they did not complete the job as they did not insulate the wall above my windows. Even though my bid said they would need a ladder (likely to do this) one was not used.

When I was billed (not noticing at the time that they missed a portion of the exterior wall) I let them know the situation, but to date it has taken more than a week without follow

Excellent job from start to finish. Our project manager, Dennis, did an excellent job addressing our concerns relative to noise and draft. We followed his advice and are completely satisfied with the results. The installation team consisted of 3 very capable and delightful young men who did a terrific job. The guys worked together very well, and they were polite and professional. The supervisor arrived to put the finishing touches on the job and the fellows cleaned up beautifully. I highly recommend SDI!

I'm not sure why you are talking about. There was one part of the quote for the spray in insulation and the other part of the quote was for the blanket type insulation as we hadn't decided which one we wanted. The removal was only included for the blanket style insulation and not for the spray on insulation. That is why there was a new quote sent to me was because the removal of the insulation for the spray in version was not included in the first quote, page 1.

It was a great experience. The crew showed up on time and completed the work just like they said they would. Very professional, would definitely use them again.

Great experience with SDI Insulation. They did their job fast, communicated well - everything is very straight forward. The prices are also competitive.

Wow! I have spent the last year doing a complete renovation of my home. Brett Delorenzi of SDI has guided me through this whole process of spray foam insulation, unventing my roof, and sound proofing my duplex. I do know a little about spray foam and Roxul insulation, but Brett literately took me to the next level on how Closed Cell Spay foam insulation and Roxul can work in concert. We did flash and batt in the laundry room, so no sound or cold comes into my upstairs apartment. Roxul (AFB) Acoustical Fire Board in the ceiling in the basement apartment to fire and sound separate the two apartments

Everyone at SDI - from the project managers, to the job managers, to the workers - was professional, courteous and just lovely to work with. We're so impressed with the efficiency of our heating system after reinsulating our attic and adding insulation to our walls that we wish we'd done this sooner! Highly worthwhile and recommended.
