Mike Menke, The owner and craftsman of Menke Furniture started woodworking from a young age. As soon as he was old enough to get into his father's tools, he was always trying to build "something". Mike's first project was a small bench/chair created from leftover firewood at the age of 10. Using nothing more than a hatchet, blunt chisel, dull saw, hammer and a whole lot of persistence, Mike constructed a mortis and tenon bench.
Time, practice and perseverance has led to today where building anything from fine furniture, cabinetry, custom builtin woodwork and architectural millwork are accomplished with ease. Mike is experienced in modern construction techniques, using standard power tools, but prides himself on having mastered the traditional methods and is a master craftsman with a penchant for hand cut dovetails.
