Our neighbor came to us and asked if we would contribute to the cost of their new fence. Since I had paid for the last one that lasted for over 30 years, it only seemed "fair" to subsidize their new fence.
The bid for removing the old fence which mainly involved the pulling away of sections of cedar fence and cutting off posts and then installing galvanized pipes, with treated pine supports and some kind of much cheaper treated white cedar but at 8' tall came in at, wait for it, over $40 per linear foot. I thought I must have been sleeping at the wheel as this sounded more than high.
