Timothy Kneller is a Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA)-certified chimney professional and the heart of our Ashbusters Knoxville team. Timothy Kneller grew up in the chimney industry, working alongside his father and grandfather in their Jackson, TN area family business. Timothy's love for the chimney business and the Smoky Mountains led him to join Ashbusters Knoxville.
The chimney industry's not regulated, which means just about anyone can grab a brush and rod and call himself a chimney sweep. Which explains why it's easy to find a chimney sweep, but not always so easy to find a full-service chimney company that's licensed, insured, and certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA).
A large percentage of the chimney fires that occur each year here in the United States are preventable. Safety statement: "The chimney and stovepipe are checked frequently during the heating season for creosote buildup and are cleaned when necessary." Chimneys, fireplaces, and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances.
Thousands of chimney fires still occur every year here in the U.S., but organizations like the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) are making efforts to reduce those numbers. We're doing our part, too, by providing our neighbors in Knoxville, TN and the surrounding areas with thorough, reliable level 1, 2, and 3 chimney inspections.

Chris made a service call to investigate a "backdraft." After a thorough inspection and discussion, he consulted with another Ashbuster's tech.
With this consultation call it was determined an unusual weather situation had created an extreme negative pressure for the downstairs wood burning stove. Therefore, creating an unwanted "backdraft."
I am confident Chris and Ashbusters were 100% correct.
Chris and I started another fire in the woodburning stove. He gave it ample time, adjusted the air drafts, and observed the chimney. The chimney drafted as it should. Everything was OK.

Timothy was very professional, he explained a lot of things I did not know about my gas fireplace. He also checked my chimney and told me the flashing on the roof was not good and I could get water or animals if not fixed. I would recommend this company.

These gentlemen were on time and worked quickly to do the annual maintenance on our fireplace. We have a gas fireplace that is an older model from the late 1990s. It is clean, looks beautiful, and works great. They laid down matting while working on the fireplace and wore shoe booties to make sure that they kept my place free from debris.
They also cleaned out our dryer vent which hadn't been cleaned for years with the home's previous owner. It was about 25% clogged and they cleaned it thoroughly.
They answered all my questions and were helpful about our future prospects for updating our fireplace

I scheduled a chimney inspection with Ashbusters knowing that at a minimum I would need replacement of chimney flashing. Excellent customer reviews prompted me to choose this company. I now add my 5 star across the board rating for this service provider.
The chimney inspections were completed by Chris and Casey, two very knowledgeable, highly skilled, and efficient technicians who called when they were in transit, arrived promptly, and performed the inspection in a timely manner. To access the chimney flue, they had to pull out a very heavy fireplace stove insert that had not been moved in decades

Professional, courteous, knowledgeable service with the bonus of liking basset hounds! Tim did a great job cleaning and inspecting our chimney (Broadacreas subdivision in Powell), showed us the potential problem areas, and gave us a quote for the recommended repairs that we could live with. Looking forward to having the work completed and continuing to be a customer of Ashbusters in Knoxville.
Update: Timmy and his apprentice, (Zach?) came as scheduled and did the repairs (including heat shield and new cap). They worked tirelessly until dusk (before DST ended!) and left us with a clean, safe chimney

THE BEST SERVICE EVER! Tim and Jonah should receive a craftsmanship award! Very professional, very knowledgeable, and punctual! All reviews listed on their website is true! What we thought would take a week to fix in replacing all the mortar in our chimney, new crown, new flashing, installing new chimney cap, fixing the cricket was all completed in 3 days. They worked extremely hard - no down time! After completion, the cleanup job was unbelievable! Thank you for taking extra care of my property, deck and awning! And made new friends!
