We had signed the contract and Jeff had deposited the initial check. At about 6am on THE DAY we were supposed to start demo, he hit us with a $50k change order! We can only assume that he had not thoroughly read the plans in the weeks leading up to the start of construction. He gave us a schedule of values to get the job under contract and then decided to study the 30 pages of drawings the weekend before we started construction. We had 80% of our house packed up and already moved into storage. We had a signed lease to move out for 3 months. And, we had abatement starting the next day. Everything
