Over the past few months, we bought 2 beautiful rugs there. They have a great selection of merchandise, and the owners and staff go out of their way to help you select and look at their rugs. Although in Old Town, they have a big parking lot right behind the store, so you have no worries about Old Town parking. A much better selection than Bloomingdales, Macy's or other big stores.

I have been coming to J&J for nearly every rug in my home. I cannot overstate the pleasure it is to work with the team there. They are the kind of professionals that will do absolutely whatever they can to make sure you are comfortable and confident with your purchase. They’ve flipped through hundreds of rugs with me, brought several to my home and even moved my furniture and laid it back out so I could see a rug come to life. The best ever rug buying experience at J & J! We traveled 3 hours to go to this store and it didn't disappoint. The store was super clean, spacious and it has a huge variety of different style rugs to choose from. Joshua, one of the owners, is who helped us. He was super kind, knowledgeable and a true master of his trade. He even kept our kids occupied while we were looking around and ended up gifting them 2 small rugs of their choice! Needless to say the kids were thrilled. We bought 3 beautiful rugs at very reasonable prices and we couldn't be happier. Thank you J&J! We'll be back.

Visiting Old Town Alexandria for the first time and just happened to be walking by J & J. We live in a more rural location, and I am usually limited to buying rugs online, so it was such a treat! There is nothing like seeing them in person. The owner was so helpful and patient to show us rug after rug until I fell in love with one I had to have. Even though this shop is a couple hours from our home, I know I will return the next time I’m in the market for a rug. J & J’s selection, quality, and service were wonderful, and I was very pleasantly surprised by their prices.

Went to look at carpets and within one hour walked away with 2 great rugs. The selection, service, and pricing was superb. J&J lived up to their superior reputation in every way. We purchased our first beautiful Tabriz rugs from J&J Rugs when we moved to Alexandria some time ago. In the years since, we've gone back often, whether to purchase another rug or just to browse as Joseph or his brother Joshua have rolled over dozens upon dozens of their enormous collection of Persian and Pakistani rugs for our review. Our experience with J & J Oriental Rug Gallery has been exceptional. I first contacted them with a question about the value of a rug that had been given to us, and Joseph, with no strings attached, volunteered information about identifying it which was extremely helpful. It wasn't until weeks later we decided to have it cleaned, and now, because of the amazing knowledge, customer service and experience we decided to have them sell it for us! We could not be happier with this company and look forward to a long friendship with them!

I've passed by this store many times, but finally went in after seeing a promotion on their Instagram page. They had a gorgeous selection of rugs in all sizes. Joshua was incredibly welcoming and helped me find three runners for my house. He and his team probably flipped 50 rugs so I could see them all. When I was undecided on which rugs I wanted to purchase, he allowed me to take all of them home so I could see how they looked, and then bring back the one I didn't want. It was excellent customer service. Would definitely purchase rugs from J&J in the future.

I've traveled across the world and have many carpets from my travels, but my favorite carpet is this Kazakh Runner from J&J Oriental Rugs.
It fits perfectly in this space in my Old Town house, rich color, contrast in the sun, and just the right thickness, and temperature (cool in the summer, warm in the winter).
J&J's is patient, and has amazing customer service and selection, and I'll definitely be shopping and having my carpets cleaned or serviced with them.
They're in a walkable area (King Street) and it is very safe (including during this pandemic) and hospitable

I have recently purchased several rugs from J&J and I highly recommend their store. I started out buying just a couple of small rugs but then decided I wanted a 10' diameter round rug for my dining room, which has a round table. After showing me what they had, and even bringing some rugs to my house (40 mintes away) to see in the room, my ideas evolved and I asked for more choices. Joseph spent quite a bit of time and effort scouring his contacts and came up with exactly what I had hoped for. Of course the one I chose ended up being considerably more expensive than the first ones

Joseph, one of the partners, and his cousin were patient and knowledgeable. Although there is fine line between a good salesperson and a pushy one, they walked that line quite well. They were professional and welcoming, even to the extent of offering tea and driving me and my 2 rugs home.
When I asked them to follow up on something the next day, after I had made the purchase, they did so as soon as the store opened.

J&J did a fabulous job restoring my 1880s Kashan rug. This kind of handiwork requires tremendous expertise and attention to detail. They fixed the binding and filled in patches of new wool where the antique rug was balding. It looks absolutely beautiful and you cannot tell at all that the rug has been restored. I am thrilled. In addition to the craftsmanship, the service was great. The proprietors are friendly and will offer you a cup of tea.

I knew nothing about Oriental/Persian rugs when I started shopping for them a few months ago, and I was expecting for everyone to try and rip me off, so I did my research both online and around town at various stores. I read an article in the Wall St Journal where they interviewed one of the larger rug dealers in the country and he summarized it like this "If you want to know if you are paying a fair price you have two choices 1) You can spend 20-25 years becoming an expert (no shortcuts) or 2) You can find a rug dealer you trust and believe what he tells you." This makes sense to me
