I had a very bad experience with the owner of this company. Inexplicably rude from the moment I greeted him at the door. He approached my hot tub and saw the floor was wet, so he said there was a leak. I told him that my kids had been playing with water around the hot tub the day before and asked if that couldn’t be the reason. He got very defensive with my question, saying that he’s been doing this for 40 years and why wouldn’t I believe him. I gladly took my business someplace else.

Our Mendota gas fireplace pilot light refused to stay lit. After a little googling, I figured out the thermocouple needed to be replaced. Online, the part costs about $30 plus shipping. I called around the Seattle area to see if I could find a local replacement part and was either quoted prices upwards of $100 or I was told that replacing the thermocouple was too dangerous to attempt a DIY replacement and I should schedule a service call for $185/hr + parts.
Before throwing in the towel and just ordering the part online, I called Don at Sound City Spa and Fireplace

Very unprofessional and sketchy. Agreed to sell me a tub to deliver and install, made a big production about wanting to come see where it would be put in. Went to see the tub and agreed to meet at the house the next day. Early the next morning, he insisted on payment, claiming all sorts of interest. When we said we still wanted him to come out first, he said OK. An hour later, he texted saying he'd sold to someone else.

Don came and did a terrific job. My deck and spa were not built to do an easy maintenance or repair, yet Don put in so much extra time to help me repair the spa. He is very professional and most importantly knows what is doing. It was a pleasure watching him work. During those entire time I cannot recollect a single incident where he was saying 'let me see this works' because he knows exactly what will work and what not.

Hire Don for all your hot tub needs! Someone gave me a semi-working old hot tub with a nice shell, so I did a Google search and found Don. Initially I was a little concerned with his hourly rate because I had zero experience with spa maintenance, but in the end, I couldn't be more pleased with what I got for the money. Don has been in the business 37 years. He's an expert who is thorough and meticulous in his craft. The people on here giving low reviews must be outliers, not the core of his business. Notice how this is the only review they've done. Don came to my house three times over two weeks

We were very pleased with the prompt response to our call. Don is knowledgeable about hot tubs and quickly assessed the problem with our spa. The motor had to be repaired; but he had a rebuilt motor in his truck which was perfect for our Tub! Don is personable and very capable and we highly recommend him!

I moved into a new place almost 6 months ago. Hired Don to come get the fireplace working. Long story short, I paid $500 to have him clean the glass, paint the back and vacuum the bottom. 6 months later the fireplace looks nice, but doesn't work at all.
Last I heard from Don was 1/5/16. He said he'd get back to me in a couple days. That was almost 3 months ago. He never once delivered on a promise.

If I could give a higher rating I would. My wife and I needed our gas fireplace repaired and we had also been looking for a new spa repair person as two other people could not get our hot tub working. We were pleased to learn that Don works on both items. We researched several companies and decided to have Don come out and give us an idea of what we'd be looking at. Don could not have been more professional, courteous, clean, and AWESOME in his work. Not only did he fix both things, coming back after ordering the special parts we needed, but he also did little extras to keep our products running

Don was great from the start... answering the phone to making time that day to fix my gas fireplace. I had called about 4 well known fireplace stores in the Seattle area to attempt to get my fireplace fixed... some only repair their own products and others wanted $250 right up just for the visit and then waiting approx 6-8 weeks for that appointment. Don was polite, professional, had the replacement part in his truck so no wait/another appointment to that part to come in. He also cleaned and made my fireplace look like new!!! I would highly recommend Sound City Spa and Fireplace Repair.
