Services
Why choose Chimney Cricket? Simple. We love chimneys! We are more than certified sweeps, inspectors, and masons. Each of our technicians share a passion for their work. We love the challenge of troubleshooting chimney problems and enjoy restoring masonry chimneys. Chimney Cricket was founded nearly 30 years ago by a local mason named Phil Taggart, who had a passion for both masonry and thermodynamics.
Our experienced technicians are able to inspect, repair and rebuild all aspects of your chimney and fireplace system. Whether it's exterior masonry pointing, stucco restoration, water repellent, flashing, crown repair, or heating flue re-lining, we understand the intricacies of the venting systems in your home.
Whether it's fireplaces, woodstoves, heaters, or dryer vents, Chimney Cricket understands the intricacies of the venting systems in your home. The National Fire Protection Association Standard 211 in PA requires all chimneys be inspected and maintained annually. Ordinary use and typical wear and tear can clog up a flue with noxious soot, creosote, and debris.
We pride ourselves in going above and beyond our customer's expectations to make their venting systems Safer, Cleaner, and More Efficient. We also know that our certifications carry with them certain responsibilities and obligations which may hold us to an even higher standard of performance and professional behavior than applicable laws, rules or regulations.

They technicians were very courtesy, sending a message including a pic to I knew who was coming. They treated my house extremely respectfully, covering floors, wearing booties, and handling a curious 5 year old. They were thorough and professional with their inspection and explaining their findings, then sending over the report as well as a follow up to see if I needed any further info. I would absolutely work with them again.

Jake and Matt just completed my chimney relining and connector pipe installation. I’m very pleased with the work and their professionalism. Also, shout out to Aaron who did the initial inspection. He was very thorough and patient with me in asking questions. Everyone has been helpful and friendly. I will definitely be working with Chimney Cricket moving forward for my annual inspections.

From my first conversation with John, whose phone and e-mail contacts were quick and clear, throughout my interactions with technicians Mike, AJ, and Will, I felt I was working with knowledgeable, experienced people who cared more about doing a good job than just selling the product. When the installation of a wood-burning fireplace insert turned into a much more complicated and expensive project, they were genuinely concerned and creative in solving the problems for a safe result -- and a satisfied customer. It was truly a pleasure working with them, and I would recommend Chimney Cricket without

Mike And his crew let us know everyday when they would be here and kept us informed on the progress of the job at every step. Our chimney was a mess, and now we can safely have fires, and it looks much better inside and out. They were exceptionally clean after every day and actually finished early. Mike and the crew were a pleasure to have around while they were working on the job. Would not hesitate to have them back when we need the next chimney project done, large or small.

I had a estimate for work done. The gentleman was very nice and informative. He explained to me simply what had to get done.
However, it’s been over two weeks and I’ve yet to receive an estimate for work. I understand it is a busy time of year for chimneys but I feel this could be streamlined better.

Not real confident in the company after a good first experience. Was told I would be contacted in three days after my chimney inspection to talk about a log insert . Still have not been contacted and am now currently looking for a reputable company to install my insert . All they had to do was contact me and the job was there’s .

We've had many inspections, cleanings, and occasional work done by Chimney Cricket, and have been consistently happy.
As I post this, Jeff and Aaron have just departed after a cleaning and inspection. They arrived promptly, worked without creating unnecessary disruption in the house, and communicated clearly about the state of our wood stove and chimney, clearly answering my questions about firewood, and integrating information I gave about upcoming work on our main furnace.
We definitely expect to keep using Chimney Cricket.

These guys cleaned and inspected my chimney and told me I need a new liner and repairs (wonder if they ever tell anybody their chimney is fine?!). I agree to have an insert installed and had very detailed conversations with the salesmen. We wait 3 months for the fireplace to come and they finally come to install it. They spend two hours working on it, rip out my flue and then stop. They then tell me they can't install it because my surround is not built right. Nothing changed from the original inspection or conversations with their sale department. Then they just leave and I have a hole

Would not provide a quote without first completing a full inspection and sweeping of the chimney, which costs $245. I already had this completed on my home (with a new home inspection) and was looking for a price to compare for a liner replacement. Chimney Cricket wouldn't provide anything without first looking themselves.
If you know what you need and are only interested in a quote, don't waste your time.

We recently purchased a home with two fireplaces, and reached out to Chimney Cricket for a chimney inspection as we would like to start using the fireplace on the main floor of the house. We were told during our initial home inspection that the fireplace needed some minor re-pointing work. Chimney Cricket returned an estimate of over $10K in work telling us that the only "safe" way to get our fireplace in working order was to install a new liner and smoke chamber. Surprised by the amount of work quoted, we contacted another company for a second opinion (this time doing additional research
