A second generation chimney sweep, Eben Talmage has been getting sooty in southern Maine since 2004. A full-service family chimney company, we specialize in chimney inspection, sweeping, relining, waterproofing and small masonry repair. Our traditional approach brings all the charm of top hats and old school customer service combined with modern day technology and safety.
Multiple point inspection of chimney venting systems based on the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA 211) guidelines. Three levels of inspection are available depending on customer needs. A Level 1 inspection is completed at every one of our inspections. Higher levels of inspection may be needed depending on the data gained by the Level 1 inspection.
We recently contracted Eben to steam wash and waterproof our chimney. He also installed a shiney new stainless steel cap to keep the elements and animals out of the chimney. Eben was an absolute joy to work with. He was professional, polite, honest, reliable and meticulous in his work. He obviously likes what he does and his customer service skills were impeccable.

What a joy it was to work with Eben and his crew. They were professional and respectful of my home. They even played with the dog. Eben is amazing! A true professional and master at his craft! We stayed in contact through email and I always received a reply on the same day, from day 1, and even on weekends. He also provided before and after pictures with descriptions of the work(demo of chimney liner and replaced with stainless liner and connected to oil-furnace) and also brought a chimney flashing issue to my attention that I was unaware of...he even recommended a masonry contractor that could fix it. Nothing but a great experience getting my chimney swept and re-lined after a crack was discovered. Eben took me through the motions to understand exactly what needed to be fixed and completed the work thoroughly and exceptionally fast. He is a must hire if you don't know much about chimneys and need work done. Now I have a great wood burning stove with a stainless steel liner keeping us warm this winter.

Knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and priced right! Eben looked at my chimney while I wasn't home, found that it was mostly in great shape and the one thing that wasn't perfect didn't need replacing because the masonry was solid and the gasses were going to the right place. I love when a business gives it to me straight and doesn't try to sell me something that I don't need. Honesty goes a long way for me, and I commend Black Jack Chimney Sweep for theirs. Highly, highly recommended.
