I've been cleaning chimneys for over 20 years now. Lately, I've been doing a lot of 2nd opinion calls for people being told they need a new chimney lining. 99% of the chimneys I look at don't need a new lining! My home was built in 1927 and still has the original lining. I've worked for some large companies on both the east and west coasts where price and technique vary.

My fee for sweeping a chimney is $200.00 per standard fireplace. If you have a wood stove, {insert or freestanding}, the fee is $250.00. Visual Inspection inspections are included with cleanings. Visual inspections / 2nd opinions without cleanings are $125.00.

Jim from My Chimney Sweep is very thorough, patient and does a great job! My husband and I are new homeowners in the DC area and did not know much about our fireplace. He took his time and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend!

Jim was great, he was friendly, and very knowledgable and gave us some wonderful advise on how to care for are chimney. He didn't try to sell us unnecessary products or repair services. He actually told me how we could fix a small crack ourselves for cheaper then him fixing it! Very honest, I will definitely use him again . Highly recommend!

Have used Jim aka My Chimney Sweep Service for 4 years now and have never been disappointed. He usually shows up on time but if he’s running late he calls to let you know. Communication is key! Besides cleaning my chimney he has also installed caps on our chimney and he always lets me know how to best care for the chimney. Will continue to use Jim and have referred him to neighbors and coworkers. 100% satisfied!!

The owner/operator sounds like a nice enough guy, but he is unreliable. I made an appointment with him for service at a time he suggested and after 3 hours of waiting, he was not able to make it to my home as planned. Though I was disappointed, he told me he would call me back that evening to reschedule. When he failed to call, I left him a message... and another message... and another message. Three weeks later, and still no response. Granted this was over the holidays, but he has still not followed up. I find this lack of professionalism concerning, especially from someone whose rates are not

I cannot say enough about Jim and his team. I was in a time crunch to get my chimney cleaned prior to my move-out inspection and My Chimney Sweep was able to squeeze me into their schedule. Jim and his team are extremely professional, on time, customer-oriented and not to mention, hilarious.

There arent many of these places around to do what they do but this place was the only place that had a good review. I took the chance and I'm glad I did. The lady that answered the phone was very nice and not too chatty...scheduled me in and was very pleasant in general. They were scheduled today for 1:30. They were an hour late BUT.....I can handle people being late as long as there is communication! Not only did she call be BEFORE they were late to make sure I wouldn't need to reschedule but Brian (the tech) also call later on to verify
