Specialty Hardwood
Danny Jenson waxed his first floor in 1979. Since then, Specialty Hardwood has laid over a million square feet of flooring in the DFW area and beyond. We still wax & buff hardwood floors, but the company has grown to be a reliable choice for homeowners who want to install & finish hardwoods, as well as perform routine maintenance on other hard surfaces.

We have proven to be a dependable choice for your flooring needs. Lydia, Danny, and everyone at Specialty Hardwood have been great to work with over the years. They're very professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and always come through in demanding situations. We know that installing or refinishing your floors can be at the end of a messy, long process.

We lead you through it with guidance & understanding. The old saying of "measure twice, cut once" is ingrained in all members of the Specialty Family. We do things right the first time. We do not take short-cuts, we make sure we follow all National Wood Flooring Association guidelines. We provide a transparent collaboration with customers from start to finish.
Services
Specialty Hardwood began in 1979 when Danny Jenson saw a need in Dallas to help customers with their wax finish on wood floors. What started as a weekend job, quickly grew into a full time business. He started maintaining other hard surfaces. Within a few years Danny was also installing and finishing hardwoods.
Species we install include, but is not limited to: Red & white oak, maple, walnut, cherry, hickory, and pine. We install and finish reclaimed wood as well. We also provide custom sand & finish, hand scrape, both with the grain and cross grain, as well as other finish techniques. Our flooring experts can help you pick the best finish for your floors.
The most common wood to install is red oak or white oak, but your options don't end there. After a species is chosen, the cut and grade of the wood must also be selected. Wood can be plain sawn, rift, or quartered. You can also get end-grain pieces of wood for your project. Grading generally goes from character grade, #2 common, #1 common, and select.
