Jeremy Biswell started his chimney sweeping career over a decade and a half ago. Shortly after receiving his degree in "Chimology" from the NCSG Chimney Sweeping School, Jeremy started Fluesbrothers Chimney Service in the Kansas City metro area. Since then, Jeremy has returned and attended the numerous class offerings of the CSIA tech center.
A flue is a venting system. Each system needs its own flue, so if you heat your home with gas and have a fireplace, you would have two flues. Often times they are in one chimney, so if you were to look down the chimney, it would be separated into two venting systems within the one chimney. That answer to that question really depends on how often you burn, what you burn and how you burn.
I just got vent free gas logs installed and they smell horrible! First, congratulations on your purchase! Now we need to discuss burn-off. Burn-off occurs as the log set is curing. This is the process the logs must go through as they burn off any oils, residues, glues, etc. used in the manufacturing process.
We often get asked about price matching. We like to repeat a quote often heard, "we will match their price when they match our service". The technician who showed up was polite but did not wear a mask as their website promised would happen (especially during a significant wave of COVID-19 infections). The actual work performed was top notch with pictures showing every aspect of my chimney. Their estimate for repairs was something that made me laugh. $17,000 for a chimney that really is in decent shape and is only 30 years old. The gentleman who did our chimney inspection when we bought our house a few years back quoted in the realm of $3,000 for all repairs. I think we'll check back with him.

Julius was very knowledgeable and did a fantastic job with our fireplace inspections. He kept us updated about the concerns or information he was discovering during the inspection. As unexpected concerns came up he notified us first prior to proceeding which we appreciate. He was very friendly, wore a mask/shoe covers and did a great job with clean up post completing his work. We look forward to working with this company/Julius again!

We had a rain guard blow off in a wind storm. Another local chimney company couldn’t schedule us until April, so I called Fluesbrothers. They scheduled me about a month out, but ended up being able to get me in within a few days because of a cancellation. The technicians were on time and knowledgeable. The office staff was kind and respectful as well. Overall a very good experience and we will be using them again in the future.
