Uchi means home in Japanese. At Uchi we strive to create a space where we can share our love of color, texture and design. We hope to inspire fun and creative ways to adorn your home and your life. Founded by Yo Akino, Uchi opened in Berkeley, CA in the Spring of 2018. When The Wooden Duck, a long time Bay Area furniture company closed, Uchi was offered the opportunity to work with the factory that produced their popular teak furniture lines.

We are continually expanding upon these collections, adding new designs, as well as offering limited custom pieces. We have curated a selection of innovative and sustainable home goods and accessories made by local and global artisans to add some color and texture to your home and to your life. We hope to become a vital member of the community and build long lasting relationships with our customers.

I've driven by this spot so many times and I regret not going sooner! Their selection of wood furniture is impressive (unfortunately I'm in a small apartment) but their home goods/decorations really blew me away. If you are able, take time to look at all the small things they carry around the store. I found some of my all time favorite coasters here and am still thinking about some of the textiles they had.

Beautifully made Teak wood furniture. Many standard as well as unique pieces. Pieces for every room in the house as well as porch and backyard. Can't wait to grab something for myself!

Great place to find teak furniture and accessories. I bought a teak rocking chair and cushion. Great customer service. I had a lot of questions regarding teak, how to take care of my chair and also if I needed to oil it. Everything was explained to me, and I was provided with an information sheet.
Great experience all the way around.

Great update on the wooden duck! Same amazing quality teak and lots of new options like beautiful custom cushions for outdoor furniture. They also have a great selection of smaller home goods like woven planters, throws and ceramic succulents!

I was so happy to have found Uchi as I was a loyal Wood Duck patron and was saddened when they retired. Uchi has much of the same gorgeous teak furniture and some other beautiful pieces. I would highly recommend stopping by and checking them out. A+, friendly staff!

As a long time fan of the Wooden Duck, I was sad to see it close but was quite pleased to hear of Uchi from a family friend. They carry all of the teak furniture and way more upscale home decor. Highly recommend!

The space is lovely and well lit with large windows and sky lights. Its conveniently located and has a lot of the furniture that used to be carried by the Wooden Duck plus some home decor and accessories.

If you have not stopped yet you should! Uchi is a thoughtful selection of treasures, the color and texture make you feel good.
