A chimney cricket is a peaked area that serves as a water diverter usually behind a chimney. This is a layer of roofing material that is installed on the roof deck beneath shingles or other roof-finishing layer; a water barrier e.g. 15 lb. This is the vent installed at the peak, or ridge, of the roof that allows the hot air in the attic to escape through an opening approximately 5 wide that runs the length of the vent.

We replaced our roof over the summer, and out of the 5 companies we received quotes from, Acura Roofing gave us the fairest quote and provided us with unmatched service. Patrick was very prompt in responding, even with some of my silly questions, and made it easy to understand. His team completed replaced our roof in only 1 day, and they were so nice and professional. These guys are great. My tree trimmers noticed a hole in my roof. I called Acura to ask if they do repairs. Alissa in the office said they'd schedule an appointment to determine if they could do the repair. Within a day the appointment was scheduled. I interviewed several roofers before deciding on Acura Roofing. One of the deciding factors was that Patrick nixed doing a roof ridge vent, because my house doesn't have soffits. All the other roofers had that as part of their proposal. While researching roofs and ventilation I found agreement that a roof ridge vent doesn't work well without soffits. Another point in his favor was his recommendation for my sky lights. I have two large sky lights and their size isn't standard. We needed some repair done after the bad storms from last weekend. Acura Roofing was quick to respond, honest (they recommended a repair, instead of replacement on a 15 years old roof).

I found Acura to be easy to communicate with, helpful in making important decisions (color, add ons, comparing options, etc), not condescending (as a woman), helpful, and I would recommend them to anyone else. My neighbors across the street raved about this company when they put a new roof on their home, so I hired it for some minor repairs. I did so on 2 occasions. During the inspection, he found two areas that two other roofers had pointed out (where squirrels had chewed the covering the plumbing vents) and offered to seal/caulk it for $20 on the spot! When I asked him to seal around my chimney cover too, he did that as well!
