Tree houses, that is. He learned by doing as a kid, growing up with five siblings in the wooded suburbs of Seattle. While still in college, Brian bought his first home in the Greenlake neighborhood, and discovered he liked remodeling. Five more remodeled homes followed, until his five-year-old son finally said "Daddy, I'm tired of moving."
This owner is lovingly restoring his home, doing most of the work himself. He asked Cobalt to remove the existing enclosed porch, that originally was open with railings. The customer did the demo work himself, and we framed the addition on a new concrete foundation. The details of the new addition were to match the existing home as closely as possible.

We just finished a basement remodel, and we're extremely happy with the process and the results!
Brian and Kyle were always very responsive whenever we had questions, and were also great at updating us on what was coming up. This was especially important when Covid-19 hit, and we really appreciated how they came up with a contingency plan (accessing our basement through a window instead of coming through the house). We always felt like we knew what was going on, and had control over the decisions.

Cobalt just finished a 2nd major remodel on our home and we couldn't be happier. About five years ago they remodeled two of our bathrooms and this time it was our basement which included adding a new office, building a laundry/bathroom combo and updating a guest bedroom. Before starting the project we told Brian we had to have it done before Christmas as we had house guests arriving. He assured us he could do it, and as we had worked with him before we trusted him. Cobalt Construction just replaced our front door- our previous door was drafty. Brian recommended high quality materials, and his team that came out to replace it were quick, efficient, and made sure to check in with us. They were professional, prepared, and respectful of our home. Even though our project was small change compared to the full remodels they often do, they fit us in and completed the work and made it look phenomenal. I have I don't know how many clients - six, ten, fifteen (they don't all tell me) - who have used Cobalt Construction to update homes that we have sold them.
These are basically good homes that just needed to be brought into the 21st century, but the owners of these homes have been very particular: they have wanted quality craftsmanship, to be sure - but they also wanted assurance that the workers wouldn't disturb the neighbors and that they would respect the property, and Cobalt goes above and beyond to ensure this

Good Luck getting Cobalt to call you back! I called and did not get a response back, called again just in case they missed my message. A VERY snippy lady answered the phone, let me know they are not taking any new jobs and she could not recommend anyone. REALLY????? Maybe leave that in your voice mail. If you keep treating people the way I was treated, you will have plenty of time on your hands to take new jobs.

Brian provided us with an accurate initial bid, and a realistic timeline for completion. Every dollar amount added to the original bid was authorized by my wife and/or myself, and most of these additions were cosmetic and were our own ideas, not based on shortfalls in Cobalt's initial bid.

We love our remodeled kitchen! This review is about a year overdue--sorry, guys. They completely demolished our '80s kitchen and then re-built it with new cabinets, appliances, lighting and backsplash. Throughout the whole process, Brian was excellent at staying in touch with us and answering questions as they came up. He kept everything on a tight timeline and got things done right. Rob did much of the installation work--great guy and really nice work!

I have been lucky enough to have had Brian and his crew complete two separate projects for me one inside and one outside. Not only were his estimates accurate and his workmen friendly and professional, but the work was excellent and completed on time. I cannot recommend them highly enough. However because they are so awesome I recommended that you get on their calendar early. So far they have completed two closet remodels, replaced all of my sliding glass doors, and completely rebuilt the most amazing deck you have ever seen. Update: Love Cobalt Construction even more. Brian and the team helped us with a basement remodel that was quite involved and front sidewalk replacement. We were moving and readying the house to rent. We knew we would be moving out of state before the project completed, yet had every confidence that our house was in great hands. As a plus, we just really like Brian and everyone on his team. We're going to miss seeing them, and will continue to use Cobalt for any future house repairs.

It's hard to find a good contractor on yelp. We found Cobalt Construction on Angie's List and swore we'd post here if they were as great as they sounded. They are! Or I guess I should say "He is!" because the company is owned by a guy named Brian and he handles every project personally. It was such a relief to find a contractor who is so up front, so clear and professional, and incredibly capable. We basically had him remove the entire back porch of our 1910 craftsman and rebuild it from the ground up to include a full bathroom and laundry nook. The project just wrapped

Finding a great contractor is hard, and once I realized I needed professional help I started procrastinating my project (getting load bearing walls removed around my horrible galley kitchen). I asked everyone I knew and only heard horror stories about their contractors... I had already removed the drywall, but I got frustrated in not being able to find anyone I liked to do the real work. So I gave up and lived with exposed electrical and 2x4s surrounding my kitchen for 11 months. No joke!
