I see all these glowing reviews from satisfied clients, but I have a bit of a different positive review to leave here. I’m not a client, I’m up in Ottawa, Ontario, where I’ve been researching best ways to get rid of lead paint from the pine floors that I want to expose in my newly purchased circa 1900 home. I’m not a reno pro, but I’m very experienced and capable in woodworking, have refinished floors in the past, etc, just not experienced with safest/proper tools and procedure for lead abatement. The SFW website kept coming up in my searches with all their great info and videos featuring

Worst communication with a company ever. Much like other reviewers, I was estimated a much lower price than was actually charged. I was told it would take a day with a couple of guys to re-caulk and paint our trim. It ended up costing 3.5 times as much because it took them almost 3 days to finish. This is a very small house by the way, very uncomplicated trim. I didn't get a chance to talk with them about it until the 3rd day because they left so early on the first day without checking in with me and then came back on a day I couldn't be home. What a shady company! Whatever you do, don't use SFW Painting. We used SFW Painting to paint our carport. They had a booth at one of the home & garden shows at the Expo Center, so we signed up to get an estimate. Well, the estimate was a great price, so we decided to go with them. Nowhere in the estimate did they include what the prep work would cost and for prep, they bill you by the hour! Well, the cost of the prep work was twice what the original estimate was. We chose SFW Painting to paint our house, based on the recommendation of SFW Construction, who did major siding work on our house. We had several other bids, SFW was a bit less money, and said they could be done fairly quickly: one day to prep, two days to paint. Well, SFW Construction was great, so surely SFW Painting would be too, right?
