Five years ago I used Smith Movers, and they were excellent. So, I called them again. I called a month before I had to move and set up an appointment for them to come out. On moving day they called the hour they were supposed to be there and cancelled. That was a Saturday. I had extra help and an extra truck, because I have a lot of boxes. They rescheduled to come back at 10:00 am Monday. Ten thirty Monday morning no movers. I called, and they said they had to do another small job first. Movers arrive at 11:30 am. Once, they stole my fire stick from the back of my tv with the remote. A year and a half later, I decided to give them another chance for a local move. All I needed moved was my dining room. They were 45 mins late and took 3.5 hours. I paid them $430 ($392+ $38 tip) for the move (the estimate was $260). We counted the money together. They left. Then one of the guys called and said he wanted to show me something. He wouldn’t say what until he was already in my house. He tried to convince me that I only paid them $330. I gave the man $80 to get the hell out of my house.

I use this company 3 years ago. They were very professional and took extremely good care of my items. It took 6 hours but hey I was pleased with the outcome. Needless to say I used them again to move recently. I'm so sorry I did. They arrived 5 hours late!!!!! I get it snowed. But damn 5 hours. One mover was very polite and professional the other 2 horrible. The two kept flirting asking questions if I were married or had a boyfriend. What do you not understand about doing your job? The movers milked us for the pay by hour. They did not pack all large and heavy items first they picked light boxes and put them on the truck. They did not get all large and heavy items on truck before they determined they could not get all our furniture on the truck. They put what they wanted to put on the truck and left half of the heavy items. The truck was large enough but the movers did not load it right. They did a unprofessional job who took advantage of seniors

Don't waste your money by hiring Smith Movers. Smith Movers damaged my furniture and then tried to charge me an extra $89.00 for a gas tax that I was not told about until they were half way done unloading my furniture into my new home. I was told I would have three movers but one mover was the driver who only drove the truck and give instructions to the other two mover. They are not professional and I rate the quality of service as zero.

I used Smith movers twice. I moved in 2017 and again in 2019.
The first time I was told I could pay with a money order. When the movers arrived one of the workers said cash only. So I had to cash the money order. They began moving my belongings and I noticed one of the workers smelled like liquor. When I came back with the cash the kitchen water was running. 2 of the workers helped themselves to some gin that was there and used some glasses that weren't in boxes. I was hesitant to call due to low rating reviews but sometimes you have to find out for yourself and take a risk. My experience was great. My situation required multiple calls back and forth over a week. This team replied quickly with updated info and delivered great customer service. I will use them again. Fingers crossed.

The movers took forever to move my already packed and ready to go boxes out of my apartment into their truck, and the building I was moving out of had an elevator. One of the movers had clearly been drinking prior to because we could all smell the alcohol on his breath and his behavior and language was kind of obnoxious. The movers seemed like ex-cons, whatever. They also arrived late.
They forgot 2 of my items on their moving truck (2 large paintings, you can't miss them). Almost a week later I got my missing items back

Do not waste your money with this moving company. They are extremely unprofessional. I hired them for a moving job and they arrived 5 hours late...5.5 hours to be exact. They did not even tell me they had a job before me that ran over, I had to call them every hour to see what was going on. When they finally arrived the workers smelled of alcohol and had horrible attitudes. Two items of furniture were damaged during the move with no apology or offer to replace/pay for. The truck they used did not have a real roof...there was just tarp across the top, which means since it rained during the move

0 stars! CAUTION: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This company does not know how to do good business. My roomate and I hired this company for two separate dates. On the day of my roommates move they arrived an hour late saying they were down the street which was NOT the case. When it came time for me to move they were 3 hours late! I kept calling to find out where they were, the manager said 5 minutes away. Completely lying through his teeth. After 3 hours I called to cancel and finally the men showed up. If you value your personal belongings, I would suggest either moving your items yourself or finding a different moving company.
I hired Smith Movers for a move date of May 27 to move a 3 bedroom condo literally 3 blocks away. I will give them good marks for being punctual, but that's about it.
There were 3 gentlemen that showed up, one of which I soon found out was diabetic, because he was in need of sugar shortly after their arrival. The other gentleman was easily about 95lbs, so this immediately made me wonder how effective he would

I wish i could give them 0 stars the worst moving experience ever. I hired them for a two hour move from the city to western suburbs. I had two friends at the house ready to help with the move. The movers showed up with a 3 man team at 12 noon they looked over my stuff which was packed and ready to go and said NO we can't do this move. Their excuse was i should have called them early in the morning cause its gonna be a all day move. And they left. Crazy, stupid, i called customer svc which did nothing. DO NOT USE THIS UNPROFESSIONAL GHETTO HOOD SERVICE.
