We had high expectations for working with Jonathan after we were recommended to him. However, almost every aspect of our interaction with him was very poor. We had a landscape design made for us that ended up being 2 weeks late and over twice the budget we were promised. It was like pulling teeth to get any questions answered for our quote, and seemed to take endless time as they checked in with vendors. When we finally got the cost breakdown and asked why it was so much after we had a previously agreed on budget, we got radio silence. Based on the landscape design, Jonathan is clearly talented

I did not end up using Land Designs by Colton, but I did interact with Jonathan in order to receive a bid. When I first came out to go over our yard and what we needed, he cut me off to ask me "if my husband would be joining us?" He continued to mansplain his way around our yards and even gave us information that I now know to be incorrect just to get a bigger payment out of us. I continued my search and ended up with a professional landscaping service, but I have since heard from others how incredibly unprofessional he is and that he has left projects unfinished and NOT up to code. I chose Land Designs by Colton for a xeriscaping project in my front yard. Jonathan came out within a couple days of my initial request and was very helpful in determining the design and materials that would complement each other. I didn't have a lot to offer in way of inspiration, but thankfully Jonathan put together a plan that looked great and fell within my budget. Within two weeks the project was underway, and approximately 900 sq ft was transformed in under three days (including irrigation) and with no unexpected costs. We are SO happy with our yard that Jonathan and team worked on!! He was amazing to collaborate with and made our dream yard a reality. Him and his crew were extremely respectful, friendly and always fallowed through on deadlines. We have had him work on two projects now and both were done efficiently, on time and done well. John has been great to work with. He did some beautiful stone work around a large tree we have along with adding bushes and a tree where we needed it. He came up with a great design for the stone work and did the work in a very timely fashion. He met the date and time frame we requested and went above the call of duty on requests we made. We won't hesitate to use him again for future work. We highly recommend his company!

For background: I hired him to work on my front lawn, and warned him I'd need him to be flexible as I was also getting a fence installed. I paid him half up front and he did some work. When I needed him to return to finish the lawn after the fence was installed, he strung me along on a finish date for months. I tried to press him to finish the job, and he got nasty.
I'd often get trapped in circular conversations with his assistant, who hides behind legalese language, while Jonathan's correspondence was

Excellent work!!! I considered posting "before" pictures to showcase the transformation but decided against it because I'll end up embarrassing myself :) I'll just say this - Jonathan and crew transformed a yard overgrown with weeds into this in just 5 days!
