We unfortunately picked the hottest day in San Francisco to move (105 degrees) but we're SO THANKFUL we hired Moving Star! Our two movers were seriously all-stars. They worked very hard, fast, took limited breaks--even in this super hot weather and overall were super prepared. They came with regular moving stuff like dollies and hand trucks, but also brought extra boxes for us, pads for our furniture, and plastic wrap.

We just completed our third move with Moving Star in four years! And we've loved it each time! Every subsequent move as been bigger and more complex--ending with today where we needed 3 people from 9-4 to complete the move. They are very hard working, careful with our stuff, and moved our stuff with consideration. They also have a lot of supplies they can bring (pads, mats, dollies, boxes, etc.) that make it a lot easier to move. I will admit my husband speaks Chinese so it makes it a bit easier to communicate.

They did a great job for our needs. It was super to easy to schedule and everyone was very friendly. Their truck isn't huge, so even for our relatively small house, we had to do 2 trips (although the 2nd trip was pretty much just potted plants from our yard). They might not be the best choice for a large household with tons of stuff, but for a basic 2-3 BR household they did great. They worked super hard and had excellent attention to detail.

The moving experience from the very beginning was a mess starting at the reservations date. I booked this moving arrangement with moving star well in advance, to ensure that come moving day, the movers were coming and it was confirmed. A day prior to moving date, and I was surprised the moving company didn't send a message to say, hi we plan on seeing you tmro for the move scheduled on .. so and so.. but I heard nothing, so I called myself, and they lost my information and said they were planning to call me?? The two man that came were pretty nice. We did pack everything really well already, but somehow we still took 4hrs to move an one bedroom apartment, 10miles away. My fiancé and I help them move them to speed up the process too. They charged $120/hr with a 3hr minimum, $50 gas money, and then tip is $10-$15 per hr per person. I only gave them 3 stars because during this time of COVID, one of the dude was coughing. I'm pretty sure it was a smokers cough; however still gave me anxiety. They were both masked at all time. At the end, the same person ask me for more tip; but I already have them

Read the bad reviews! Complaints are all consistent - they overcharge, scheduler was rude and they ask for larger tips! After the initial quote for the minimum 3 hour time requirement, they contacted me after the job was booked and said they would have to charge an additional hour due to the move going to the next town. It was a 6 mile move! NOTE - time starts when they leave the "office" not when they show up at your door.

I would give these guys 0 stars if I could. Stay away from hiring these crooks if you value your belongings. I would NOT recommend them at all. They were extremely rude to us and tried haggling us to get tips for an additional hour that they did not work. A few days later we noticed that we were missing a couple of items and figured out that the movers had a actually keept some of our belongings in their trucks while we were negotiating tips and left without unloading. This, in my opinion, is theft and very unprofessional. In addition, we also noticed a couple of dings and scratches on our furnitures

- had availability "last minute" (we scheduled several days before the move)

Olivia from Moving Star responded to my request for a quote within a couple hours and made it very easy to communicate over phone and text. She was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful in making the best plan for my move. She was able to accommodate my request to schedule my move less than just one week later! And the rate was the best around. They packed my entire apartment up for me and moved everything to my new place with no hidden extra fees, unlike a lot of the other moving companies in SF. Start off by saying they DEMANDED a bigger tip! They started off by refusing to try to back up my driveway attempting to leave. After that it was relatively smooth other then they are pretty rude one of them used bathroom and pee'd on the floor and later at my new house dropped a #2 and flooded the bathroom
The move went 4 hrs longer then it should've because they had to walk up and down the driveway by the end they were dumping our stuff out of the wardrobe boxes they let you use. They didn't plug the bed or couches in they just demanded payment and a bigger tip. I will not

UPDATE: This is in response to Jing/Olivia's comment to my review. She is a complete liar as can be seen in her ridiculous responses to other people's negative reviews as well. All of her statements are absolutely false and would take way too much time to address. However, most importantly - We NEVER received compensation for the damage to our TV. However, her response just adds evidence to my case. See you in small claims court Olivia!

I was very happy with my Moving Star experience. I was able to receive same day loading help for my long distance move. The movers showed up on time and were very friendly and professional. They brought all of their own equipment. It was clear they knew what they were doing. They were very hard workers and were careful with my belongings. I recommend Moving Star!
