I was in the area and needed to get my keys copied. Walked in, showed my keys and walked out in no time flat! While I've definitely had keys copied at hardware stores in the past, they don't always work the best (shimmy it a little to the left to work, lol). These copies, however, worked perfectly and were inexpensive. Glad I discovered this spot!

No nonsense great locksmiths. Just had knives sharpened there. A-1 job done quickly at a super reasonable price. Had tough to copy keys made there a few times before. Worked every time and never had to go back to have them remade. Cheaper than everybody else to boot. How good are they? I live in Brooklyn and go to Manhattan for their services. The super of the co-op I live in thinks they are the best. That says it all.

Called in to say I was sending someone to make copies of keys (45 minute drive) and would need to pay over the phone. When my assistant was there, called to pay for the keys and the guy tells me to F***** wait, he's going on his lunch, and I'm going to have to F***** wait. Then he just ups and leaves with my assistant standing outside his store with keys to be copied. What kind of store is this. I hope they go out of business *fast*.

Crooks, plain and simple and it pains me to report it as a neighbor and fellow business owner. One of of our employees called them one frigid morning because the lock was frozen and they couldn't get in. 3 hours later they show up and insist they have to drill the locks out and do so, at which point they want $555! At this point, I get the man on the phone and tell him there's no way we're going to pay that amount as I've never in my life heard of a frozen lock having to be destroyed and replaced. I never said I wouldn't pay anything but he insisted if I wasn't going to pay he would take the new

Needed to copy keys quickly and found this place on Yelp. It was close to my apartment, and super convenient.
When I came in, I asked the man working how long it would be to do the key, he said, "it depends on the key". He looked at it and put it in some machine that copied it in two seconds! It was like magic!
All for two dollars as well. Definitely the fastest I've ever had keys copied in my life! Definitely recommend this place for super fast and cheap service.

I love my deadbolt now that Frank put in a new cylinder for me.
I paid for a new pick-proof cylinder for my existing deadbolt (the house call was included in the price). When Frank arrived he saw how rickety and misaligned my deadbolt was. In addition to installing the shiny new cylinder, he spent a long time realigning the deadbolt that I hadn't even purchased from him.
Now I can lock the door very easily from the inside or out (so I get to appreciate the great work several times a day, forcing me to write this review). This would not have been the case if Frank hadn't put in so

I came to the shop at 5:35pm on a Thursday and left with 2 sets of brand new sets of keys by ... probabably... 5:42pm!
This is definitely a no-frills type place and it's obvious that the guys prefer efficiency. Note that there's a 10-dollar minimum for credit cards which may make it difficult if you're only looking to duplicate one or two keys.
The shop is on the right side of 2nd Ave (if you're walking south), and it's a super small place!

This is about as straightforward a business as you can find in Manhattan. You need spare keys, they have hundreds they can burn for you. It took less time for me to procure three keys at A-Art than it did to actually open their front door. Fast, friendly enough, cheap - exactly what you'd want in a business that specializes in diversifying how you enter your apartment.

For the second time in a single month, the same spindle broke - a $2 piece they're selling for $20. They didn't even give me a receipt when I asked them for it (I wonder if they pay taxes). I walked out in disgust.
Strangely enough, this is the only locksmith around here that sells spindles. What a business, selling defective pieces! Avoid.
