Services
Greenwich Locksmiths is the oldest locksmith shop in Greenwich Village and among the oldest in Manhattan. We have formed a strong bond with the West Village community and devoted following over the years by providing exceptional locksmith services at fair prices. Our shop is located at 56 7th Avenue South between Morton and Commerce Streets and is open from 8:30AM - 6:00PM Monday through Friday.
The locksmith industry is not what it used to be here in New York City. What was once a proud profession of integrity and expertise is now a swarm of unlicensed and unskilled "locksmiths" who work out of the trunks of their cars, destroying the locks they encounter due to lack of skill then replacing them with cheap imported hardware.
Getting keys made that work here in New York City is not always simple. Hardware stores that have a key machine are not locksmiths, and most of the time the keys they make don't work. Automated machines only copy basic keys and are more expensive than us. We understand the individual processes associated with duplicating the variety of lock and key manufacturers that are prevalent here in New York City.
If you lost the keys to your filing cabinet or need to secure a filing cabinet that does not lock at the moment, we can help. The most common (and affordable) way to make keys for your filing cabinet is by giving us the code off the front of the lock (where you put the key into.) This saves the cost of a technician coming to your location to make keys.

These guys are hands down the real deal. I had a broken deadbolt on my front door that I needed to get fixed. I ordered a replacement one online and tried - unaware of how hard it is to change one of these - to do it myself. It's a Muli-T-Lock and I was able to switch it out, but couldn't get the key to work. I called Greenwich for help. The owner answered the phone, could not have been nicer and tried to talk me though how to change it, to save me money!! He was incredibly kind and I was so appreciative that he was trying to help. I was worried my key was going to break in the lock, and that would

Their keys work, which is great, but also the only reason this place is still in business given their high price point + horrendous service.
I asked for 2 copies of an elevator key. The owner was on the phone and heard 3. I repeated “two” with my hand up making a v sign. The guy muttered “ok two” and went in.
He came out with THREE copies of the key. $25 each. I asked him why and he said he heard two, and added that “I don’t need the money but I’ve already made them. What am I going to do with the extra key? If you had taken off your mask maybe I would’ve heard you better.”

Greenwich Locksmiths installed my Segal lock 45 years ago. Ten years ago my building was doing restorations and left the outside door wide open for weeks. One day I came home to find my apartment door hanging from the hinges but the lock remained secure. They were unable to get in; my neighbor was not so fortunate. Today the spring on my lock broke. I brought the lock to Greenwich; Philip created a new spring and gave me instructions on how to reinstall. The lock is working perfectly. He would not accept payment. I live directly across the street from a large major locksmith; I would rather walk

Having had some problems with my door for some time, with several locksmiths attempting to fix it, I finally found a team that actually masters their craft. Greenwich Locksmiths has a deep understanding of door mechanics, brings outstanding execution (professional, responsive), are real problem solvers and deliver incredibly high quality work. Their commitment to their customers goes beyond what one normally expects - you actually should not waste your time speaking to anyone else.

Went to my friends apartment for the first time and her key/lock completely jammed and we were stuck in the hallway. Called up, answered right away and came right down in no time. Super professional and friendly. Easily the best locksmith I've ever dealt with. Thanks for helping us out!

Amazing service for amazing price and incredibly helpful staff. I wanted to get a key fob copied for an emergency and these guys were incredibly quick, flexible, and courteous. Literally had every keys and key fobs I needed so it was a perfect one stop shop for me. Highly recommend to anyone in NYC (it was totally worth coming by from Queens for me)
