At MHK ARCHITECTURE & PLANNING, we make the design process between owner and architect and owner, architect, contractor simple and efficient. We carefully phase our work as to always obtain owner approvals and make sure our design aligns with the client's vision.
In Architect's jargon, the word "Parti" means "Big Idea". The design Parti typically comes from the client. This is typically in the form of a program of spaces. Programming is the activity of determining the "program", or set of needs that a project requires. After establishing the program for a project, the focus in the architectural design process shifts from what the problems are to how to solve those problems.
During schematic design, the focus is on the "scheme, " or overall high-level design. Here, minor details should be ignored to instead focus on creating a coherent solution that encompasses the project as a whole.

Caroline Forrest, a native of the Palm Beaches, has practiced in Florida for over 15 years. She has completed residential, retail, and commercial projects of varying architectural styles. Caroline received her undergraduate degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and received her Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture degrees from the Pratt Institute in New York.
Mitch Lehde received his Bachelor and Master of Architecture at the University of Florida, and also studied at the Vicenza Institute of Architecture (VIA) in Northern Italy. Prior to joining MHK Architecture and Planning, he worked for 8 years in Naples, FL specializing in residential architecture, and later established his own firm in Greenville, SC where he continued a focus in residential design in the Western Carolinas.
