BKG Design (formerly Budget Kitchen and Bath) is Pittsburgh's premier place to buy a new kitchen. With more than 30 years of experience, allow our designers to be in charge of your next Pittsburgh kitchen remodeling project. Our designers will take your ideas and develop a virtual reality drawing of your own dream kitchen.
However, if you want to ensure that you will be able to meet with a designer, we recommend contacting one of our showrooms for an appointment prior to visiting. We do not. For your initial quote, we ask that you take measurements using our measure guide and e-mail them or bring them in to one of our showrooms with you.
BKG Design has been asked for 12 years to stock an inexpensive, all wood construction cabinet line with a rock bottom price similar to the stock cabinets at home centers. This series is for contractors, real estate investors, or homeowners who already have a design & layout, don't need help with installation, and don't need renderings of their kitchen.

Hired beginning of the year, supposed to take 2 weeks starting mid March. The owner, Dave Bowers had hired an "outside" work crew to complete all demo and full kitchen remodel. You are at the mercy of whoever shows up. We had to pay extra for electric and plumbing. Paid Andy Young, the one in charge, several thousand $$$. The crew would show up late, had to tell them many times to fix what they did the day before, poor workmanship and very unprofessional. Refused to level the floor, the electric was completely wired wrong. We had to hire another electrician to rewire which was extensive

Update: We ended up getting attorneys involved, at which point they admitted to sending the wrong cabinet. However, we were required to pick up the cabinet at the warehouse. One of the cabinets they sent us was missing a drawer. We requested the drawer hardware which we also had to pick up at the warehouse, only to find out the drawer hardware is 3 inches too short. This is a horrible place to do business with and we will not be returning.

Absolutely recommended- they made the process so easy and a lot of beautiful choices to pick from. My cabinets and granite were absolutely beautiful. They take the guesswork out of designing a kitchen and do all the hard work for you. Everything was clearly explained and timelines were on point. My kitchen looks so amazing now!

We bought a "flipped" house through this company in Dec 2016...
BKG did not secure any of the county permits legally required to install plumbing and electric and used no licensed plumbers or electricians (the owner outright told me this on the phone, because they are "too expensive") and it shows, because quality is horrendous and has been a stressful and expensive 2 years fixing all of their mistakes.... Here is a list of SOME of the problems we encountered by the shoddy workmanship and illegal practices of this company:

I am looking to buy cabinets to remodel my kitchen. I like to deal with small businesses in the area. I hate big chains. I thought this would be a good place. And I'm on a time crunch. I contacted them through their website mid July. Few days maybe a week before I heard back. Designer emailed me asked for measurements. Sent them in with description of what I wanted. Another week goes by nothing. I emailed the designer asking if there was a time frame. She emailed me back the beginning of the following week to say she had a very hectic week and she would get the design ready and send it to

When you walk in to BKG you are greeted by a designer. They ask what your plans are- they explain all of your options. All of the doors and counter materials are CLEARLY marked with prices for a 10x10 kitchen- so you have good idea of pricing based on a smaller or larger size. Their samples hang on the wall and the designers will remove them and help you match them up with the countertops and accessories.
We were emailed a floor plan with a design a few days later, and discussed any changes or additional options. BKG was available via phone or email anytime we contacted them.

I was renovating a small kitchen and thought I could salvage the cabinets but they were too far gone. So I was looking for something not super expensive, since I had not budgeted for this expense.
Budget kitchen was getting rid of a ton of showroom/floor models. I got a six foot run of base and wall cabinets, plus a countertop for $400. The cabinets are solid maple, with beautiful bronze finished knobs/hardware. The drawers all have that silent/slow close feature. It was strictly cash and carry, and I estimate the retail value was at least $1500-2000. The floor room people were nice on the

Buyer beware. This business will rip you off. Will not get work done when promised. Drag their feet for weeks. Causing you more expense, out of your budgeted money for the remodeling, in ordering out food, for many people, as you can't cook so you don't have enough of the money they demand. No contract.
